The highly anticipated final war arc of My Hero Academia is set to begin in season 7, but fans are particularly eager to learn about Hatsume’s enhancements to Deku’s hero costume for the upcoming battle.
In the fourth episode of the series’ fourth installment, Deku and Iida paid a visit to Hatsume to have their costumes repaired. However, due to time constraints, Hatsume was unable to fix their current attire and instead provided them with replacements that were not up to par with their original ones.
Fans were curious about how a different gear would perform in My Hero Academia’s ultimate showdown against the Paranormal Liberation Front, considering it was not the same as the previous one. However, they were surprised to see that the new gear Midoriya received was actually more effective. It allowed him to utilize One for All together with the complementary quirks of the vestiges, greatly assisting him in the fight against TomurAFO and his army.

Exploring the modifications made to Midoriya’s gear by Hatsume before the final war in My Hero Academia
In season 7 episode 4 of My Hero Academia, the Class 1-A students returned to their dorms after freeing themselves from Aoyama’s grasp. They were all concerned about the impending war, but Midoriya and Iida were determined to emerge victorious. They sought out Hatsume for modifications to their costumes.
Deku was in need of his Mid-gauntlets, a gift from All Might during the Dark Deku arc. Unfortunately, these could only be found in the U.S. and there were no replicas for him to utilize. Meanwhile, Iida needed his full armor to be repaired.
As they arrived at the development studio, Izuku vividly remembered the incident when he was suddenly attacked and Hatsume landed on top of him. Once they had calmed down, the two of them asked Hatsume to repair their costumes. However, due to their urgent need, Hatsume declined, explaining that she would have to start from scratch.
While Hatsume’s subordinates were willing to assist, she wasted no time in creating new gears from scratch and launching them at the heroes. Although she acknowledged that they were not the originals, she assured that they would suffice for the time being. Midoriya and Iida expressed their gratitude to Hatsume before leaving.
Despite being unable to repair Midoriya’s Mid-Gauntlets due to the lack of a necessary metal, called condominium, Hatsume instead crafted a replica of the gauntlets and affixed them to a new version of Air Force gloves. These gloves were originally designed by Hatsume and given to Midoriya as his first gear.
Therefore, Izuku Midoirya would be equipped with a hybrid gear consisting of a Hatsume-original Mid-Gauntlet and a new model of Air Force gloves when entering the final war. However, since this gear is newly developed, its effectiveness against formidable foes like Tomura Shiagaraki is uncertain.
The final arc of My Hero Academia began with the hero dividing the villains into separate groups, as All Might had previously mentioned in season 7 episode 4. To accomplish this, Monoma utilized his ability to replicate Kurogiri’s quirk and create warp gates to various locations, through which the heroes were able to funnel the villains.
Midoriya debuted his new gear, created by Hatsume, during this moment. The advanced equipment enabled him to easily push every villain through the warp gate without any resistance. However, he was unexpectedly pulled into the warp gate with Uraraka and Tusyu, leading them to confront Himiko Toga on a remote island miles away from the main battle.
Having entrusted Toga to Uraraka and Tsuya, Izuku quickly made his way to the battlefield. Utilizing a combination of Float (inherited from Nana Shimura), Fa Jin (learned from Bruce), and his newly acquired Air Force gear, Midoriya had infused One for All with a significant amount of power, allowing him to effortlessly soar through the ocean.
Despite the new gear, it still had the same issue as the previous one. It was unable to withstand the full power of One for All, and using it at maximum capacity would result in its breaking. During Midoriya’s attempt to use One for All at 100% while crossing the ocean, a vestige appeared and scolded him for being cautious about such matters.
Therefore, even though Hatsume’s modifications to Midoriya’s costume did not completely eliminate the previous limitations, they could still be deemed superior to the previous version of the Mid-Gauntlets.
