How many arcs are there in total in Demon Slayer?

Demon Slayer has quickly built a solid reputation in the manga world, and the anime is preparing to unveil a highly anticipated season 4: but how many arcs are there in total for the story of the Demon slayers?

Recent years have been generous with quality series in manga and anime. But certain works stand out even more among the particularly popular stories: if One Piece continues to crush the competition and Jujutsu Kaisen has captured almost all the prizes at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, Demon Slayer is not left out.

The anime, already with three seasons and a film, can boast of having numerous records to its credit. The series adapting the manga by Koyoharu Gotōge was the most watched of the year 2023, and the previews of its season 4 were also entitled to their small success in theaters.

The next batch of episodes promises to focus on the Hashira Training arc, or Pillars, these super-powered Slayers serving as guides and examples to the troops in the fight against demons. But it will not yet be the conclusion of the story of Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko: how many arcs are there in total in Demon Slayer?

How many arcs does Demon Slayer consist of in total?

The Demon Slayer manga has a total of eleven main arcs. The story written by Koyoharu Gotōge ended in 2020, and the anime is also nearing its end, as season 4 sets the stage for a conclusion.

Note, however, that the last arc, that of the Final Battle, is divided into two parts.

The first arc, that of the Final Selection, allows us to introduce the characters and explain Tanjiro’s determination to kill Muzan and restore Nezuko’s human appearance. It covers the first nine chapters and ends after the young man officially becomes a Slayer.

You can find the list of the different Demon Slayer arcs below:

  • 1 – Final Selection arc: chapters 1 to 9 / Season 1 – episodes 1 to 5
  • 2 – First Mission arc: chapters 10 to 13 / Season 1 – episodes 6 and 7
  • 3 – Asakusa arc: chapters 14 to 19 / Season 1 – episodes 8 to 10
  • 4 – House of Drums arc: chapters 20 to 27 / Season 1 – episodes 11 to 14
  • 5 – Mount Natagumo arc: chapters 28 to 44 / Season 1 – episodes 15 to 21
  • 6 – Recovery Training arc: chapters 45 to 53 / Season 1 – episodes 22 to 26

  • 8 – Pleasure Quarter arc: chapters 70 to 99 / Season 2 – 11 episodes
  • 9 – Blacksmith Village arc: chapters 100 to 127 / Season 3 – 11 episodes
  • 10 – Pillar Training arc: chapters 128 to 136 / Season 4 – number of episodes to be confirmed
  • 11.1 – Final Battle arc, the Infinite Dimensional Fortress: chapters 137 to 183
  • 11.2 Final Battle arc, Countdown to Dawn: chapters 183 to 205

What is the next arc of the manga adapted in season 4 of the Demon Slayer anime?

Season 4 of Demon Slayer will focus on the Pillar Training arc, the tenth and penultimate in the history of the Slayers.

If the first season of the anime had a nice total of 26 episodes to adapt the first six arcs of the Demon Slayer manga, the following seasons were content with 11 episodes. Season 2, that of the Pleasure Quarter, covered 30 chapters, while the third adapted 28 for the Blacksmiths Village.

The Pillar Training arc only has 9 chapters. It is therefore possible that season 4 of the anime will seek more material from light novels, or that it will begin the adaptation of the Final Battle.

Indeed, the last arc of Demon Slayer has a substantial number of 69 chapters, including 47 for its first part in the Infinite Dimensional Fortress.
