How Many People Play Concord? Is PlayStation Hero Shooter Dead on Arrival?

It appears that PlayStation’s venture into the hero shooter category may encounter difficulties before its launch. This guide will provide an overview of the player population for Concord.

Concord is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 5 and PC on August 23, 2024. Our experience with the early access beta of this hero shooter transformed us from skeptics to enthusiasts, but it has not garnered the level of attention that developer Firewalk Studios had probably anticipated.

Despite the initial trailers receiving a large number of dislikes, this did not bode well for the game’s reputation. The number of players in the recent open beta suggests that the game’s image is still struggling to recover.

Therefore, what is the total number of individuals who have participated in Concord? And what do the statistics indicate about the game’s sustainability in the long run?

Concord first granted access to players through a closed beta for those who had pre-ordered the game. Thanks to Steam’s comprehensive tracking, we have specific figures for the PC version. The game initially peaked at 1,124 concurrent players upon its immediate release, but the player count gradually declined during the closed beta period.

Firewalk Studios then released Concord in an open beta, available to all without the need for a pre-order. The game was launched on Steam and, to the studio’s delight, surpassed its closed beta with a peak concurrent player count of 2,388.

Similarly, the open beta of Concord followed a similar trend as the closed beta, with a steady decrease in peak player counts. This can be observed on the charts, as the trend shows a consistent downward trajectory.

Concord PlayStation 5 Player Count

Despite the difficulty in obtaining data for Concord’s player count on PlayStation 5, TrueTrophies has conducted research and uncovered a significant difference between the game’s closed and open betas.

According to reports, the Concord Open beta had approximately 8.1% fewer players than the closed beta, despite being available to a larger group of potential players for free. The exact numbers, however, remain unclear.

Concord may be hanging on by a thread.

Despite not being definitive, these numbers suggest a lower overall player count, potentially impacting the launch of Concord.

There is a chance that those who are interested are just biding their time until the game is fully launched.
