Valve’s hero shooter MOBA, Deadlock, has been in playtesting for several months and continues to attract new players.
Despite the creators not publicly acknowledging it, Deadlock has already had a significant amount of its gameplay leaked online, showcasing a distinct blend of hero shooters and MOBAs. Some have even referred to it as a potential rival to Overwatch 2.
Despite having zero public access, Deadlock’s playtest continues to attract a growing number of players, reaching a significant user base. This increasing popularity has caused a stir on Steam, showcasing the game’s potential. Here’s a closer look at how it’s all unfolding.
How Many People Are Playing Deadlock?
According to SteamDB, Deadlock has 30,798 players at this moment and reached a peak of 44,512 players on August 18.
It is important to mention that the peak number of players is consistently being surpassed on a daily basis, as more and more individuals are receiving invitations to join the game. Just a week prior, on August 12, Deadlock reached its peak with a record-breaking 12,000 players.
Therefore, it is reasonable to predict that the current peak of 44,512 players will be surpassed with ease. Deadlock is currently in an exclusive playtest, meaning that these numbers are only from invited accounts.
The current number of players is comparable to that of other live service games like Destiny 2, Helldivers 2, and Warframe. In fact, it has surpassed the player count of Sony’s Concord closed beta and is on course to surpassing the player count of Marvel Rivals’ closed beta as well.
To our knowledge, Deadlock is only available on Steam, so the current player count on SteamDB should be a fairly accurate representation of the actual number of players actively participating in the game.
