Despite experiencing both highs and lows in terms of player involvement, Destiny 2’s current level of popularity is a topic of interest. As of May 2024, we have the most recent figures on the game’s player count.
The initial release, Destiny, was launched in 2014 for both PlayStation and Xbox, setting the stage for the highly awaited sequel, Destiny 2, which debuted in 2017.
Despite launching several seasons of content, Bungie has yet to determine if Season of the Wish has been successful in maintaining the popularity of Destiny 2. With 23 seasons under its belt, the game continues to evolve, but the question remains: have these significant changes been effective in retaining a strong player base?
On April 29, 2024, the player count information was updated.
Destiny 2 Season of the Wish will end on June 4, 2024.
Do we know the number of active players in Destiny 2?
According to the data provided by SteamCharts, there has been a significant increase in the average daily player count of Destiny 2 over the past 30 days. The recorded number of 58,629 players marks a 48% rise from the 39,479 players recorded in the previous month.
In April 2024, the peak number of players for Destiny 2 reached 123,508, a significant increase from February and January which saw numbers around 40,000-50,000.
In February 2023, Bungie’s looter shooter reached its highest peak, with an impressive 316,651 concurrent players.
It is important to note that SteamCharts only displays the player count for Destiny 2’s PC version. Since the looter shooter was originally released as a console exclusive in 2014, it has a significant player base on consoles that is not accounted for on SteamCharts.
