Many fans speculated about Megumi’s potential villain arc due to Gege Akutami’s portrayal of him as becoming increasingly unhinged in his efforts to protect his sister, Tsumiki. This was particularly clear during the Culling Games arc, where he chose to kill Reggie to acquire points for his sister’s sake, yet this narrative thread ultimately went unresolved.
Throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, numerous characters highlighted Megumi’s immense potential, leading to theories that his villain arc could be where he finally reaches his peak. Some suggested that Tsumiki’s death might lead him down a path of anger and resentment, but this notion could be viewed as out of character for him.
Additionally, Yuji Itadori’s relentless pursuit to rescue Megumi from Sukuna during the final arc adds weight to the idea that his villain arc would have made the conclusion significantly more tragic, thereby setting the stage for a memorable confrontation between the two protagonists.
Character Development Issues with Megumi
One of the reasons why many fans were eager to see Megumi’s villain arc concluded the story is that his character ultimately lacks significant development.
