How to Acquire a Mount in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, there are multiple ways to navigate the world, including horseback riding! To acquire and unlock a mount for Zelda, you must first complete a straightforward side quest. Discover more details below!

How to Unlock Mounts in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

The initial mount available to Zelda is a rental horse, which you can access by completing the side quest ‘Runaway Horse’ located at Hyrule Ranch, found southwest of Hyrule Castle Town.

You can undertake this quest immediately after finishing the Suthorn Ruins cave quest. Simply walk north past Suthorn Prairie heading toward Hyrule to arrive at the ranch. If you reach Kakariko Village, you’ve gone too far! Make sure to activate the Warp Point near the ranch for quick returns.

Talk to the man at Hyrule Ranch to initiate the Runaway Horse side quest, and then head west. You’ll find the horse stranded on a rocky ledge amidst water. Since the horse dislikes water, you’ll need to construct a bridge for it to return to solid ground. Once you ride it back to the ranch, speak to the owner who will allow you to rent any horse you choose.

Remember, rental horses do not belong to you, meaning there is no recall feature. You’ll need to retrieve any horse from where you left it or go back to the ranch to pick another one. If you’re interested in owning your own horse instead of renting, you’ll need to unlock ‘Zelda’s Horse’.

How to Unlock Zelda’s Horse

You can unlock Zelda’s majestic white horse by completing the ‘Impa’s Gift’ side quest. This quest becomes available after finishing the Hyrule Castle Dungeon main quest.

Begin by speaking with a little girl at the ranch and wait for her brother to show up. You’ll find out that Zelda’s horse has fallen into a rift at the Carrot Patch. Travel to Hyrule Fields to find it on the edge of the Eternal Forest. Enter the Stilled Carrot Patch to locate Tri’s friends and restore the Carrot Patch. After completion, Zelda’s horse will be free and available for use throughout the game!

That’s all the information you need to get a mount in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
