In any MMORPG, the visual representation of your character plays a significant role in gameplay and is particularly prominent during key narrative moments. However, over time, you may find that your initial choice of aesthetics no longer appeals to you, and the option to modify it is a feature offered by some games, including World of Warcraft.
Recently, Amazon Game Studios has revamped its MMORPG, New World, rebranding it as New World: Aeternum. This update brings a substantial array of changes to the gameplay and features included in the game.
Initially, New World: Aeternum showcases a robust character customization tool, offering players numerous choices before they embark on their journey. The update has introduced even more options, allowing players to choose Archetypes that influence their starting equipment and overall playstyle.
So, what comes next?
Understanding Character Appearance in New World
As of now, once you have initially created a character, you cannot alter its appearance. Furthermore, your character’s name is also permanently assigned, so choose wisely and ensure it’s something you can live with in the long run.
While direct character alterations are not an option, you can modify their visual representation through the game’s transmogrification system. Although this feature doesn’t cover every piece of armor, you can alter higher-tier gear by accessing your inventory and selecting the “change skin” option.
This allows you, at the very least, to create coherent outfits that complement one another. However, it may be best to hold off on this until you near the endgame phase, as you’ll acquire better equipment quickly during the leveling process, making it less practical to focus on your appearance early on.
New World: Aeternum is accessible on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X through the same launcher used for the original title, for players who purchased it in the past few years since its launch.
