Madden 23 is the newest in a long line of sports simulation games, and it is by far the most realistic to date. Individuals who want to master the game must first understand all of the game’s mechanics, which includes knowing how to intercept the ball.
When your opponent has one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, an interception is a requirement. But, how does interception function in Madden 23? With all of the new gameplay modifications, even seasoned Madden gamers may want assistance.
In Madden 23, how do you intercept passes?
The act of stealing the ball in the air is known as interception. In Madden 23, players must strafe toward the ball by holding the LT button and then pressing the Y button. On PlayStation, they must strafe with the L2 button and grab the ball with the Triangle button.
Beginners in Madden may intercept without strafing. They may do this by just holding down the catch button (Y on Xbox, Triangle on PlayStation). This results in an automatic interception by the Lurker closest to the ball. It is, however, not as precise as the manual pick.
Positioning is the key to a great interception in Madden 23. By tracking the reticle on the ground, players may guarantee that the defender is aligned with the direction of the pass. They should avoid getting too near to the reticle, since this will alert the opponent and eliminate the opportunity for a turnover.
What to Do When Interception Seems to Be Impossible
Aside from interceptions, there are two more ways to break up a throw in Madden 23: deflect and tackle. When a turnover appears to be unachievable, players should instead try deflection or tackle. Here’s how it’s done:
- In Madden 23, deflecting the ball is simple. Just before the receiver gets the ball, players should push the X button (Square on PlayStation).
- To tackle, players must press the A button (X on PlayStation) close to the recipient. While tackling might not result in a turnover, it does keep the opponent at bay.
The Best Interception Settings and Formations
Players may increase their interception chances by going to Coach Adjustments and setting Cornerback Matchups to “By Overall.” This minimizes the likelihood of missed passes in a stat-based contest.
In terms of formation, players should choose a lineup that covers the opposing quarterbacks and receivers. If the opponent possesses three quarterbacks, they should use the Nickel formation. Players should use the Dime or Dollar configuration if they have four or more receivers.
In addition, when on the defensive line, players might consider moving the linebackers and cornerbacks for the interception by pushing left on the D-pad.
Madden NFL 23 is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
