Hades 2 has now been released in early access, although calling it that may be an understatement. Our experience with the game has shown it to be a highly refined and enjoyable experience that is definitely worth getting before the full release.
Playing as the new protagonist Melinoe and navigating through the Underworld and beyond feels incredibly refreshing. However, the difficulty and overall essence of the original Hades, which the game is known for, remains a significant aspect of this roguelike experience.
Despite this, there is a method to make Hades 2 less challenging if you desire. God Mode, which was present in the first game, has returned and we will now elaborate on its mechanics in Hades 2.
Understanding God Mode in Hades 2
God Mode is a feature in Hades 2 that can be activated at any time during your run as a difficulty setting. Its main purpose is to make you stronger immediately, especially after you experience failures.
Upon activation, it immediately provides Melinoe with a 20% increase in Damage Resistance. However, in Hades 2, its benefits extend far beyond that.
Similarly to the previous game, activating God Mode will result in a 2% increase to Damage Resistance each time you die. However, this will only continue until reaching a maximum of 80% Damage Reduction in God Mode.
Turning on God Mode in Hades 2
To activate God Mode in Hades 2, all you need to do is pause the game and access the options menu. From there, go to the Gameplay section and choose the God Mode option to turn it on (or off).
Upon exiting the menu, a notification will appear in-game confirming the activation of God Mode. Additionally, after each death, a notification will inform you of the increase in Damage Resistance.
Disabling God Mode will eliminate all Damage Resistance that was acquired from its use.
Is There Any Consequence to Using God Mode?
Currently, there are no negative repercussions for utilizing God Mode in Hades 2. Its main purpose is to provide a smoother gameplay experience for beginners who wish to fully immerse themselves in the game’s narrative.
This feature also offers players the advantage of being able to easily navigate the game and plan out potential runs. This involves familiarizing oneself with the patterns and strategies for Hades 2’s selection of bosses.
Currently, there are no known achievements in Hades 2, but there is a possibility that they will be included in the game upon the release of the full version. It is uncertain if there will be achievements inaccessible to players using God Mode, but only time will tell.
