How to Obtain All Starter Pokémon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Quaxly, Fuecoco, and Sprigatito

Players of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet must choose from three starter species before embarking on their journey through the Paldea region. However, it is possible to obtain all three through various straightforward methods.

Choosing a starter involves considering multiple factors. Players must take into account the potential additions to their team, their personal preference for a particular starter, and the Gym Leaders they will encounter initially. Selecting certain starters may provide an edge in early Gym battles or present more challenging fights.

The following information provides everything players need to know about obtaining a starter in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, including which one to choose and how to breed and trade for them later on in the game.

In Gen 9’s Paldea region, players have the option to select one of three starter Pokémon: Quaxly, Fuecoco, or Sprigatito.

The Grass-type starter available for selection is Sprigatito. It will undergo a Second Stage evolution and become a Grass/Dark-type, featuring a charming cat design.

Fuecoco is the Fire-type choice in the Paldea region and will acquire a Fire/Ghost-type as its Second Stage evolution.

Quaxly is the Water-type that players can choose to start their journey with. Its Second Stage evolution gains the Water/Fighting-type.

When do players get their starter?

In the beginning of the game, players will encounter the Pokemon Professor, as is tradition in previous titles. Similar to past games, players will not be able to embark on their journey as a Pokemon trainer until they have chosen a partner. In Scarlet & Violet, the Professor will visit the player’s home and present them with three species to choose from.

Trainers can choose their first companion from the starters following behind after taking a short walk, before proceeding to other areas of the game.

Are Scarlet & Violet Starters Available in the Wild?

Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco are not found in their natural habitat.

As a result, players will be unable to catch the starter Pokémon that they did not select later on in the game.

Can Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito be traded?

All three starters can be acquired by means of trading.

Trainers have the option to trade with another player who possesses the desired starter Pokemon in order to achieve this goal. This can be done through local trades with friends or through online trades with other players. As a result, the Pokedex can be fully completed in the game.

How to breed Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito

Although Pokemon Daycare is not available in Paldea, players are able to breed their starters using the Pokemon Picnic.

In order to produce a new Pokemon at the Pokemon Picnic, two different species must be present in the same Egg Group. If both Pokemon are participating in the Picnic, eggs from the Egg Basket will start hatching.

One must keep in mind that the Pokemon species that emerges from the egg will correspond to the female used for breeding. As a result, players must have a female Fuecoco, Sprigatito, Quaxly, or any of their evolutions in order to successfully breed them. Additionally, a Ditto can be paired with a male or female starter to obtain the desired species.
