The Gligar, unaware of its potential, performs exceptionally well in Pokemon Go due to its typing and stats. Additional information on its Shiny availability and methods for capturing it in the mobile game are provided below.
Gligar serves as a prime illustration of the potential for even seemingly insignificant creatures to be formidable in Pokemon Go, thanks to the various levels of the Battle League.
Ever since its debut in Pokemon Gold and Silver, Gligar has been a highly underrated Pokemon. Its potential was finally recognized in Generation 4 with the introduction of its evolved form, Gliscor. However, in Pokemon Go, Gligar proves to be a formidable opponent even without evolving. In fact, keeping it unevolved may be more advantageous for competing in the Great Battle League, which restricts Pokemon to a maximum CP of 1,500.
If you’re interested in adding the Fly Scorpion Pokemon to your team or curious about the possibility of finding a Shiny, this guide covers everything you need to know about encountering Gligar in the mobile game.

How to get Gligar in Pokemon Go
Currently, there are two methods to obtain Gligar in Pokemon Go.
- Encounter Gligar in the wild
- Trade another player for a Gligar
One can easily obtain Gligar by finding it in its natural habitat. Although it is not commonly seen, its chances of appearing are higher during Sunny and Windy weather. Furthermore, Gligar is one of the Pokemon that will appear more frequently during the Rivals Week event, making it the ideal opportunity to capture it.
Gligar can occasionally be found in 1-Star Raids or 3-Star Shadow Raids, but it is not currently included in the April 2024 rotation.
At the present time, it is impossible to hatch Gligar from any Eggs.
Evolution of Gligar into Gliscor
To successfully evolve Gligar into Gliscor, both a Sinnoh Stone and 100 Gligar Candy are required.
To ensure that you have enough Gligar Candy, make sure to participate in events such as Rivals Week and Raids (especially 1-Star Raids) whenever they are available.
Sinnoh Stones, on the other hand, are more challenging to obtain as they can only be acquired through participating in battles or unlocking Research Breakthroughs.
Is it Possible for Gligar to be Shiny in Pokemon Go?
Shiny Gligar is available in Pokemon Go. It was introduced in September 2019 during the Johto Journey event.
Shiny Gligar is not the usual pink, but rather a shade of blue or periwinkle, giving it a resemblance to its evolution, Gliscor.
