With the introduction of Junk Store, a new Decky Loader plug-in, you can now easily run and install games from the Epic Games Store on your Steam Deck without the need to switch to desktop mode.
The Steam Deck boasts an impressive game library, with the ability to play a large portion of the Steam library on the go. For even more variety, users can also install Nvidia GeForce Now, Xbox Game Pass, and the Epic Games Store to expand their gaming options beyond the Steam store.
The main drawback of using extra game launchers on the Steam Deck is the potentially complicated setup process. Installing any additional launcher requires a number of steps, which may be difficult for the average Steam Deck user to handle. Fortunately, installing the Epic Games Store on the Steam Deck has become much simpler thanks to a new plugin called Junk-Store.
Decky Loader’s Junk-Store plug-in enables seamless access to the Epic Games Store on the Steam Deck without exiting gaming mode. Previously, playing Epic games on the Steam Deck required switching to desktop mode and installing Lutris or Heroic Games Launcher. With Junk-Store, this process is streamlined as it integrates your Epic games into your Steam library, as long as Decky is installed on your device.
The recently launched Junk-Store plug-in, which can now be found in the Decky store, was originally shared by YouTuber Steam Deck Gaming. This innovative plugin allows users to access and add Epic Games Store titles to their Steam library. It even enables the download and smooth running of games like Fall Guys, which are no longer available on the Steam store. Additionally, users can take advantage of the free monthly games offered on the Epic Games Store.
Currently, Junk-Store exclusively offers support for games from Epic Games Store. Nevertheless, Steam Deck Gaming has announced that the developers of the plugin are actively working on implementing GOG Store support in the near future.
If you’re determined to run your GOG games on the Steam Deck, you can always use the Heroic Game Launcher. However, setting it up may require more steps than using the recently launched Junk-Store plug-in.
