Thanks to the recent Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 7, players can enjoy a more intricate experience with Alfira, a temporary companion who can steal your heart—though there’s now a method to recruit her permanently, albeit with some challenges.
Playing as a Dark Urge sounds thrilling. It allows players to embrace their dark impulses and engage in truly malevolent actions throughout their journey. However, many players find themselves regretting their choices upon encountering the enchanting Alfira, who is often whisked away after a single night as a companion.
Since the patch, fans have unearthed new strategies to prevent her from disappearing and secure her as a permanent ally. Fortunately, with the adjustments made in patch 7 of Baldur’s Gate 3, it is now possible to keep her—but it requires dedication.
How to Recruit Alfira in Baldur’s Gate 3
Alfira is the cherished Bard Tiefling that is bound to capture your heart.
A user shared their strategy on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit page, detailing how to recruit Alfira and all her gear:
- Avoid long resting.
- Complete the Act 1 Goblin vs. Grove quest.
- Travel to Grymforge.
- Initiate Alfira’s joining at camp (ensure you have space for her), defeat the Dark Urge, and stash the Dark Urge (this was tested with a Tav in multiplayer; results may vary with other companions).
- Head to Last Light Inn, have Alfira take her designated seat, then converse with her to accept her quest; save the Tiefling at Moonrise (still no long rests).
- Receive the reward, the Potent Robe.
- Defeat Alfira and place her in your collection.
- Long rest until you get Quill in your camp (since the long rest scene wasn’t skipped, it will trigger again) and defeat Quill, then long rest again until you encounter the Deathstalker.
- Revive Alfira with Withers.
Getting Alfira as Companion by u/cenalexis_01 in BaldursGate3
It’s crucial to note that “if you want to benefit from bardic inspiration, you must finish the entirety of Act 2 without long resting before defeating Alfira, as killing her marks her as dead and she won’t engage in dialogue anymore.”
To fully enjoy the companionship of Alfira, players need to be exceptionally patient and strategic in their battles, as long resting is limited.
This method may seem tedious, but for many enthusiasts, it represents the best path to sidestep heartbreak.
“It’s overcomplicated, unnecessary, and overall nonsensical. In short: I love it!” quipped one player, with many agreeing that the approach will likely be “refined in the coming weeks” as players identify more efficient methods to recruit this beloved Tiefling.
Similar complexity has been noted with Minthara, where players have also found a way to recruit her without destroying the Druid Grove.
While this recruitment process may be intricate, it remains a guaranteed method to avoid heartbreak and acquire a powerful Bard companion.
