How to Resolve the Ultrawide Display Issue in Atelier Yumia on PC

Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land marks KOEI TECMO’s fifth release in what has already been a busy year, with March barely underway. This latest installment in the Atelier franchise features Yumia Liessfeldt as its protagonist and continues the series’ trend of launching on Steam on the same day as its other platforms.

KOEI TECMO’s commitment to supporting the PC community is commendable; however, the quality of their game ports can vary significantly. While players have reported that Atelier Yumia generally performs well, it notably lacks ultrawide support out of the box. Fortunately, Lyall has stepped up to address this issue by providing a patch that enables ultrawide functionality for the game on PC.

Resolving the Ultrawide Display Challenge in Atelier Yumia

Lyall’s patch for Atelier Yumia effectively introduces ultrawide support, optimizing the game’s field of view (FOV) during both standard gameplay and combat scenarios. Moreover, it adeptly scales the heads-up display (HUD) for various custom resolutions, with no additional configuration required by the user.

If you’re interested in enhancing your gaming experience with this patch, follow these straightforward installation steps:

  • Ensure that Atelier Yumia is not currently running.
  • Visit the official GitHub release page and choose the latest version (0.0.3 as of this writing).
  • Download the patch file by selecting AtelierYumiaFix_v0.0.3.zip located under the assets section.
  • Unzip the downloaded file into the game’s installation directory.
    • Note for Steam Deck users: Include WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n, b"%command% in the launch options for Atelier Yumia.

Once these steps are complete, relaunch Atelier Yumia to enjoy it in your preferred ultrawide resolution. Below is a screenshot showcasing how the patch enhances the gameplay:

The displayed HUD elements are well-positioned, resulting in a seamless visual experience. In addition to offering ultrawide support, Lyall’s patch conveniently allows players to skip introductory videos and company logos, saving valuable time during the game’s startup.

All thanks to Lyall’s considerable efforts in developing and testing this patch.

However, users should be aware that the current patch version comes with a couple of minor issues:

  • The crouch vignette does not fully extend across the screen at aspect ratios wider than 21:9.
  • At aspect ratios exceeding 32:9, the minimap image may duplicate at the screen edges.

While these are not game-breaking concerns, they may disrupt your experience somewhat. If these small annoyances detract significantly from your enjoyment, you can easily roll back the patch by deleting its associated files and verifying the game through Steam.

Historically, KOEI TECMO has been slow to incorporate ultrawide support in their releases, and there is little expectation that they will address it directly for Atelier Yumia. Therefore, Lyall’s patch currently stands as the optimal solution for players seeking an enhanced gaming experience.
