The mysteries of Botany Manor extend beyond just tending to the plants, as the mansion is also filled with hidden rooms and intricate locks that can only be solved with careful reasoning. Below are the steps to deciphering the Library code and solving the Library symbol puzzle at Botany Manor.
Tips for Resolving Library Codes in Botany Manor
After completing the Pixie Tears and Wolfglove plant puzzles, players will be given a Gatehouse Delivery. However, instead of a physical package, they will find a note from Elizabeth with the code necessary to unlock the Library on the second floor.
According to the family tree in the front entrance, the three-letter code for Elizabeth Anne Greene is EAG, which is the three initials of her name, as she mentioned.
Despite being married to Arthur Hopgood and taking his last name, Elizabeth Anne Hopgood’s Library code will remain EAH.
Mastering the Library Symbol Puzzle in Botany Manor
Once inside the Library, five plates bearing various symbols will be found on the wall. These plates must be pressed in the proper sequence in order to open the wall. The symbols on the plates match those on the five books scattered throughout the Library.
Out of the five books, three are open to pages and the remaining two are closed. Be sure to take note of the titles of the closed books and the first words in italics in each of the open books.
The solution to the puzzle is to push the plates based on the current time of day. Therefore, the sequence would appear as follows:
- Sun – The Rising Sun
- Fish – One Bright Morning
- Hare – At Midday
- Bird – One Evening
- Moon – Wonders of the Night Sky
Once you have selected the correct order, the wall will reveal a small room where the Study key can be found along with some clues for the Nightfall plant. To access the study, players must enter the previously locked Library and then turn left. This will allow them to proceed with Chapter 4.
