Blizzard’s latest experiment in the world of Azeroth is going live today, and most players who enjoy the Classic experience are excited to try the new goodies in SoD. In this guide, I’ll go over briefly how to start Season of Discovery in WoW: Classic.
How to Play Season of Discovery in World of Warcraft: Classic
There are a ton of reasons to be excited about Season of Discovery, I’m a little too hyped about all the PvP I’m about to get into. Shaman at 25 in vanilla was really good, and the prospect of playing around with Runes is just too tempting. The servers come up today at 1 p.m. PST/4 p.m. EST. Anyhow, whatever your reasons for wanting to start WoW: Season of Discovery, here’s exactly how to get into it:
- Make sure you have an active World of Warcraft subscription.
- Click on the World of Warcraft icon in Battle.net.
- Under the “Game Version” drop-down menu, choose “World of Warcraft Classic” and install if you haven’t already.
- Log into WoW Classic, then select “Change realm” at the top of the character selection list.
- Choose “Seasonal” realms” to select a Season of Discovery realm.
SoD will be rolled out in seasons with the level cap starting at 25 in Phase 1, then 40 in Phase 2, and so on. It seems like it’s going to be a particularly PvP-heavy re-imagining of classic Azeroth, with a slew of new skills for players to slot onto their equipment using Runes. It’s going to be a very interesting take on old content, and the level cap rollouts will bring with them new versions of classic content. Heck, Blackfathom Deeps (BFD) is going to be a 10-man raid. Who knows what they’ll use for 40. Maybe Maraudon? Uldaman? All of Maraudon as one massive raid instance with all the balancing changes would be amazing.
And that is how to start WoW: Season of Discovery, which launches in just a few hours.
