The Poppy Field in STALKER 2 is a visually stunning yet perilous location, populated by vibrant red poppy flowers. However, these alluring blossoms conceal a deadly secret: they can induce severe drowsiness, potentially leading to fatal consequences. Fortunately, this comprehensive guide will walk you through the steps needed to conquer the Poppy Field quest and overcome these lethal blooms.
1. Completing the Poppy Field Quest in STALKER 2
Your journey for the Poppy Field quest begins in the Lesser Zone, precisely at the Zalissya settlement. Upon arrival, head to the local inn to find a character named Mityay seated in the corner.
In your conversation with Mityay, he will mention a prized family heirloom, the Religious Icon, reportedly hidden in a Root Cellar beneath the Poppy Fields located northwest of Zalissya.
Mityay will caution you about the area’s dangerous phenomena, which can render unsuspecting explorers overwhelmed by fatigue, leading to a tragic end. Your mission is to heroically navigate through the Poppy Fields, unearth the Root Cellar, and retrieve the Religious Icon to return to Mityay.
i. Initiating the Quest
Before you embark, it is crucial to stock up on Energy Drinks, as these will play a vital role in replenishing your stamina. The Poppy Fields have a reputation for rapidly depleting your energy levels, which can result in your character falling unconscious.
Energy Drinks can be purchased from vendors in Zalissya or can be found in abandoned houses throughout the Poppy Fields. Here’s how to make your way to the Poppy Field and stay safe:
- From Zalissya, head west, following the blue icon on your compass. Tracking the mission in your Journal will keep you on the right path. After a brief trek, you will arrive at a stunning field filled with bright red poppies.
- Upon entering the field, you will experience disorienting effects: your vision may blur, and unsettling whispers may echo around you. Prepare for possible disjointed teleportations to odd locations.
- As you feel the onset of drowsiness, quickly consume a Non-Stop Energy Drink, but remember that its effects are short-lived. It’s crucial to find a safe place soon, lest you risk being overwhelmed by exhaustion and needing to reload your last save.
ii. Encountering Pomor
- Upon arriving at the Poppy Field, head towards the house to your right for refuge before exploring the fields, as aimlessly wandering can be lethal.
- Inside, you will encounter Pomor, who possesses information about the Root Cellar’s location. He will demand either 2,000 Credits or a commitment to assist him in exchange for this knowledge.
- If you agree to his request, Pomor will send you on a mission to search for firearms and ammunition from four bodies scattered around the field. Accepting this task will update your map with the locations.
- You can also decline Pomor’s offer and proceed to find the Root Cellar independently. After your decision, he will wish you good luck as you continue your quest.
iii. Finding the Heirloom
- To track down the Religious Icon, exit Pomor’s house and sprint directly ahead, consuming Energy Drinks when necessary.
- Enter the opposing house to Pomor’s, loot any available Energy Drinks, and head toward the far end of the house.
- Instead of entering the next visible house, drink another Energy Drink and veer to the right.
- Keep navigating between the two houses until you spot the discreet entrance to the Root Cellar obscured by poppies.
- This entrance can be elusive, but by maintaining your course between the houses, you should easily find it.
- Descend into the Root Cellar, explore your surroundings, and you will discover the Religious Icon leaning against a shelf, marking the mission’s progress.
iv. Wrapping Up the Quest
After acquiring the Religious Icon, you must choose to whom you will return it, as your decision will determine your rewards:
- Option 1: Hand the Icon to Mityay – Return to Zalissya and enter the bar where Mityay awaits. Presenting him with the Religious Icon will complete The Poppy Field side quest, earning you a reward of 1,000 Credits.
- Option 2: Deliver the Icon to Pomor – If you opt to give the Icon to Pomor, expect a reward of the Unknown Stalker’s AR416 rifle. Note that the game may indicate an option to sell the Icon to Pomor, but this is likely a glitch and can be disregarded as the quest will conclude seamlessly.
The Poppy Field quest is merely one of the many obstacles within STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. With this guide, you have successfully navigated a challenging segment, but remember, the Exclusion Zone is teeming with enigmas and dangers.
