How to Survive the First Night in 7 Days to Die

The main focus of 7 Days to Die is surviving in a world that has been completely taken over by zombies. Therefore, it is crucial to have a solid strategy in place when beginning the game in order to survive for a few days. Along with finding the optimal location for a Starter Base, there are other factors that must be taken into consideration.

In order to survive the first night in 7 Days to Die, here is the essential information you need.

Surviving Your First Night in 7 Days to Die

  • Obtain Food and Water.
  • Gather Rocks and Wood in order to create your initial Weapons.
  • Make sure to locate a shelter before 4 PM.

During your initial day in 7 Days to Die, it is crucial to focus on collecting resources and materials that will support your survival during the night. It is important to prioritize maintaining high Health and Water stats during the daytime.

It is important to start looking or building a Shelter before the sun goes down, as in-game night begins at 8 PM. Without a Shelter, it will be difficult to survive through the night.

Tips & tricks for first night in 7 Days to Die

The initial night in 7 Days to Die is crucial as it is when you establish your survival plan, which can determine your success or failure in the early stages of the game.

Throughout your experience, you must attend to four essential aspects: Health, Stamina, Water, and Food. Your Food and Water levels are depleted when your character exerts themselves or goes without consuming resources for an extended time. If they reach zero, your character will perish.

Given that these four stats are your top priority, it’s important to take into account the following factors in order to ensure your survival.

Day-Night Cycle

The in-game day cycle for 7 Days to Die lasts 24 hours, with sunrise occurring at 8 AM and sunset at 8 PM. This is an important factor to consider when venturing out to gather resources, as Zombies become more aggressive during the night.

Zombies

You must avoid these as they are the main dangers you will encounter. The game features four types of zombies: Normal, Tough, Special, and Animal. These infected creatures will only pursue you during the day if they are able to see you, and they will move at a slow pace.

Zombies will become active at night, searching for survivors by sensing their proximity and heading towards sources of light. They will not hesitate to break through walls and other barriers to reach you, even if you are inside your base.

Remember that zombies are capable of climbing, but you can turn this into an advantage. When they are ascending a ladder, they will be unable to harm you. Eliminate zombies by targeting their heads, or hinder their movements by severing their limbs.

Resources

Prior to spending your first night playing 7 Days to Die, be sure to collect Wood, Stone, Cloth, Rocks, and any other necessary materials. These resources will aid in crafting essential items in case you encounter a frenzied zombie during the night.

While exploring the map, you can come across these items by interacting with bushes, converting Grass into Fiber, searching vehicles and corpses, and scavenging abandoned buildings.

First weapons

Although it may be desirable for you to obtain a gun on your first day, it is advisable to fashion your own basic weapon using rocks or wood.

In order to obtain Wood, you must punch trees and then craft it into Wood Planks. These can then be further refined into Plywood and eventually turned into Sticks. Additionally, you can fashion the Wood into Pointed Sticks, which serve as your initial weapon and means of defense within the game.

If you want to utilize Rocks, you can easily transform them into Stone, enabling you to construct a Block or a Forge. Additionally, you can separate these Stones into smaller pieces and then convert them into Sharp Stones, which are necessary for crafting a Stone Axe.

To obtain a Stone Axe, simply combine a Stick, a Sharp Stone, and Plant Fiber.

Your first base

While there are various options available for your Starter Base, keep in mind that it is essential to have access to resources like Water and Food. To find suitable locations, use your map and consider semi-urban areas as they tend to offer the best chances for securing these resources.

Once you have arrived at your destination, it is important to establish a secure area to serve as your safe space for the night. One effective way to do this is by creating torches using sticks and cloth and strategically placing them around your base. This not only prevents zombies from spawning, but also slows them down, making it easier for you to defeat them while they are weaker.
