If you found riot shields to be irritating, brace yourself for being used as one by an enemy in Black Ops 6 with the addition of the body shield feature.
Black Ops 6 revolutionizes movement in Campaign, Multiplayer, and Warzone with the implementation of omnimovement. This groundbreaking feature allows operators to sprint, slide, and dive in all directions at equal speed, a first in the Call of Duty franchise. Furthermore, the ability to shoot while diving adds a new dimension to movement options.
In addition, the implementation of intelligent movement allows for streamlined actions such as sprinting, mantling, crouching, and maneuvering around corners with less reliance on button inputs. Treyarch’s focus on fluid movement also applies to the body shield.
Taking advantage of the new defense mechanism only requires one simple step for players.

If you find yourself in close proximity to an enemy, you can utilize them as a human shield by pressing the Melee button twice. This will allow them to take some of the gunfire for you, giving you the opportunity to take them down quickly before they are defeated.
On Xbox, the default melee button is B and on PlayStation it is O. However, the button may vary if a custom control scheme is utilized.
Additionally, Treyarch has verified that the body shield feature allows for voice communication between the attacker and the victim. This is sure to lead to some entertaining moments as players may choose to engage in role play or plead for mercy.
The use of this feature is currently available in Multiplayer and Campaign modes, however, it will not be accessible in Warzone upon initial release. It remains to be seen if this aspect will be incorporated into the Call of Duty League, or if professional players will choose to prohibit the use of body shields.
