Nintendo has made an unexpected announcement: they will be merging two events into one, with both a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase and an Indie World airing consecutively.
As the Switch approaches the end of its expected lifespan and its successor’s launch draws closer, third-party studios and indie developers will play a crucial role in supporting the console in the coming years. It is not surprising that they will be the main focus of a joint event.
The Nintendo Switch is gearing up to add fresh excitement to its 2024 lineup, following its previous Direct event in June. Here’s how you can catch the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase & Indie World livestream and what you can anticipate seeing.
It’s time to learn what new titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2024 and beyond
Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase – livestream dates & times
The Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase and Indie World will both be featured consecutively on August 27, 2024, starting at 7am ET/3pm BST/4am PT.
The estimated duration for both shows combined is around 40 minutes. While there is no official confirmation on the games that will be featured in both events, the Silksong fanbase is anticipating yet another disappointment.
How to watch the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase
Following the event, all individual trailers must be uploaded to both the Nintendo YouTube channels and any channels owned by individual publishers.
Possible Games for the Partner Showcase
Sonic x Shadow Generations could appear during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase
Despite Nintendo not having officially announced any games for either showcase, we can still speculate on potential titles. One of these could be a Switch version of MySims, as it has recently been listed by various retailers.
In addition to leaks, there are other games such as Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, Epic Mickey Rebrushed, Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, Stray, and Lego Horizon Adventures.
These are all third-party games scheduled to be released on Nintendo Switch in 2024 and are highly likely to be featured at the event.
As this is a Partner Showcase, do not anticipate the appearance of any first-party games such as The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom or Mario & Luigi: Brothership.
Will the Nintendo Switch 2 be revealed during the livestream?
Although Nintendo has not stated any specific games that will be featured at either event, it has announced that there will be no updates regarding the yet-to-be-named successor to the Nintendo Switch. As a result, there will be no announcements of new consoles or games.
It is probable that any information about the upcoming Nintendo console will be reserved for its own Direct in the future.
