Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a remake of the original game, but it still feels fresh. The graphics have been reworked, new copy abilities have been added, animations have been created, and a new bonus level has been added called Magalore’s Epilogue. Everyone will want to take part in this exciting adventure.
Like the original Return to Dreamland on the Wii, this is a co-op couch game that supports up to four players on a single Nintendo Switch console. Players can play alone or invite the whole family. In order to unlock the multiplayer mode in this Kirby game for kids, they must first complete the main story mode.
How to unlock co-op in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe
The co-op mode in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe can be entered once players reach the first level in the game. A pop-up window will appear explaining that the multiplayer mode can enter and exit at any time during a level or battle. Up to four players can cooperate on each level of the game at the same time.
How co-op works in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe
First, players need to have at least one more Joy-Con connected to the Switch. Players can play with either a full set of Joy-Cons or one Joy-Con turned to the side. After connecting additional controllers, the new player must press the bumper buttons and select a companion character from the available ones:
- Meta Knight
- Another Kirby color
- Bandana Waddle Dee
- King Dedede
Players can ride on each other’s backs while running or flying. Kirby can inhale his friends’ air and spit it back out to hit his enemies. If other players move too far away from player 1, they will return to him. Kirby can copy the abilities of certain enemies and gain superpowers by eating certain types of food, but other players cannot.
If the player of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe collects all the food and eats more than they can use, they can share it by giving it to their friend; this will fully restore the health of both players.
At the end of each level, players can collect additional items, stars, and food to participate in the “Team Bonus” game.
By holding down the same button to activate Kirby’s copy abilities, additional players can exit the game at any time. Although this co-op game is not available for online play, there are some other options that allow you to play Kirby over the Internet.
