Zev Rattet shared a photo on his YouTube channel on August 1st (KST) of himself and his wife posing with IU. In the picture, IU is seen making a heart gesture with her hands, while the couple completes the heart above their heads with IU in the middle.
IU’s dedication to fulfilling their promises made it possible for this meeting to take place. On July 30th, Zev Rattet was invited by IU to attend the “2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT IN OAKLAND”.
During a recent concert, Zev Rattet had the opportunity to speak with IU for 15 minutes. He described the interaction as “graceful and beautiful,”and expressed his admiration for IU’s kindness. Rattet also proudly shared that IU gave him gifts, such as a keychain, bow tie, and traditional Korean hairpin.
Despite still feeling dazed from the concert, Zev Rattet fondly remembers the feeling of walking on clouds as he hugged IU and was hugged back by her. The experience was like a dream, almost too surreal to believe.
After a 30-year career as a software engineer, Zev Rattet retired and created a YouTube channel in February to share his passion for Korean dramas. Through his videos, he caught the attention of IU’s fanbase and eventually joined the official fan club, “UAENA”. He quickly gained recognition among fans as the “American UAENA Grandpa”and his initial introduction to IU was through the 2019 tvN drama “Hotel Del Luna”.
Zev Rattet expressed his fondness for Korean dramas, stating, “The way Korean dramas portray emotions and their outlook on life is truly rejuvenating. I was utterly enthralled by my immersion in Korean culture.”He went on to share, “I dedicate 4~6 hours of my day to watching Korean dramas, almost like it’s my new job. In fact, I was able to get my wife hooked on them as well, although it took her about a year to become addicted.”
Fans responded with great excitement upon hearing about their encounter, commenting, “He’s so fortunate to have finally met IU”and “IU is truly remarkable for always keeping her promises.”Despite her hectic schedule, IU’s unwavering dedication to her fans is admirable. It’s no surprise that once fans fall for her, they find it difficult to resist her charm both in Korea and abroad.
At the same time, IU traveled to Los Angeles, where she is scheduled to host the “2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT IN LOS ANGELES” on August 2nd.
