Hunter x Hunter Fans Celebrate 10th Anniversary of One of the Best Anime Episodes

Despite Hunter x Hunter no longer being in current airing, its fandom continues to thrive as fans commemorate the 10th anniversary of what is considered one of the greatest episodes in the series.

Hunter x Hunter is widely regarded as one of the greatest anime of all time and a must-watch for any anime enthusiast. Based on the acclaimed manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, the series has two separate adaptations, one in 1999 and the other in 2011.

Despite receiving some praise from both critics and viewers, the 1999 series pales in comparison to the 2011 adaptation, which has garnered the most attention. This is due to the fact that the newer anime covers the Chimera Ant Arc, widely regarded as one of the best arcs, if not the best, in the manga.

The current episode being celebrated by fans is also a part of the Chimera Ant Arc. Titled ‘Anger x And x Light’, Episode 131 is known for its stunning animation, direction, and visuals, and is considered to be one of the most pivotal episodes in the entire series.

Despite being released on May 28, 2014, Hunter x Hunter Episode 131 remains just as watchable today as it was a decade ago. In fact, it has only grown in popularity and is now widely regarded as one of the best anime episodes ever created. Today, we celebrate its 10th anniversary.

The episode “Anger x And x Light”is famous for showcasing Gon’s rage mode. After witnessing the brutal fate of his mentor Kite at the hands of Neferpitou, Gon is driven by an uncharacteristic desire for revenge. Despite Pitou’s pleas, Gon agrees to spare Komugi’s life on the condition that Pitou also heals Kite once they have finished treating Komugi.

Despite Pitou’s failure to comply, Gon unleashes his pent-up rage and undergoes a transformation into an incredibly powerful adult form. The events that unfold are dark and heart-wrenching, as Killua can only watch in horror as his once carefree friend brutally finishes off Pitou.

According to a user on X, the episode, which has now reached its 10th anniversary, is just as impactful and unforgettable as the iconic moment when Goku first transformed into Super Saiyan.

Another person shares, “The Chimera Arc in this episode was absolutely incredible. It’s definitely one of the greatest arcs in the history of anime – time just seemed to stand still.”

“A third person comments, “This is the greatest anime episode ever.”

As fans commemorate the anniversary of this anime episode, the manga is making a comeback with the highly anticipated release of Hunter x Hunter Chapter 401.
