As reported by Newsen on January 15, the defamation lawsuit filed by A against actress Hwang Jung-eum has been officially withdrawn. This development follows a social media misunderstanding in June last year regarding A’s identity as a supposed mistress, which led to legal action.
In April of the prior year, Hwang Jung-eum shared a screenshot on her social media featuring a post from A, which read: “Ugly woman, please marry Young-don. Can’t you just divorce and go to Bangkok?” This comment sparked a misconception that A was linked romantically to Hwang Jung-eum’s spouse, Lee Young-don. However, A clarified that “Lee Young-don” referred to a friend who is not in the public eye. Following the uproar, Hwang Jung-eum admitted to the error, stating, “I misunderstood an unrelated person as my husband’s mistress.” Despite her apology and efforts to reconcile, A proceeded with the lawsuit.
A spokesperson for Hwang Jung-eum’s agency communicated to Newsen that “A has now withdrawn the lawsuit, resulting in an amicable resolution. The specific details regarding the timing of the withdrawal remain unspecified.”
In the meantime, Hwang Jung-eum, who tied the knot with former professional golfer Lee Young-don in 2016 and is a mother of two sons, disclosed her ongoing divorce proceedings as of February last year. She continues to be a regular co-host on the SBS Plus and E Channel variety show “Because I’m Solo.”
