Currently, HYBE is facing a difficult time within the K-pop community due to criticism of their live singing abilities within a few groups under the company.
The debacle surrounding LE SSERAFIM’s Coachella stage garnered both domestic and international attention. While some provided constructive criticism and defended the group’s performance, others resorted to unjustified hatred towards the quintet.
The backlash against LE SSERAFIM also spread to their official SNS platforms, including their group and solo Instagram accounts. Every post mentioning the group has been inundated with negative comments in some form or another.
In addition to facing criticism for their Coachella performance, ILLIT, HYBE’s fifth-generation girl group, also received backlash for their encore stages on music show programs.
The conversation eventually escalated to the point where internet users began to accuse HYBE of “destroying”the K-pop industry through their production of acts with shorter training periods. This sparked a debate about the current standards of live performances within the industry.
Despite this, fans have taken to social media platform X (Twitter) to express their concerns and urged HYBE to give more attention to fromis_9. The girl group, which debuted in 2018 under PLEDIS Entertainment, is currently a subsidiary of HYBE Labels.
