The Seoul Central District Court held a hearing on May 17th for the injunction filed by Min Hee-jin against HYBE to prevent the exercise of voting rights. Both HYBE and representatives from law firm Sejong (representing ADOR) were present, but Min Hee-jin was not in attendance.
According to HYBE, Min Hee-jin engaged in approximately 58,000 conversations with a shaman in order to gain control of management rights. Additionally, she adopted the shaman’s suggestion to name ADOR as a mission. She also shared trainee photos with the shaman, who had a significant influence on the selection of debut members and even attributed eliminations to being “possessed by ghosts”.
HYBE further added that the individual in question had a tendency to give orders to female employees in a coercive manner and frequently made derogatory comments about women. Additionally, they noted that she displayed a lack of respect towards her colleagues.
An audit was initiated by HYBE on April 22nd after discovering evidence of breach of trust by Min Hee-jin. Multiple allegations have been made, including suspicions of her trying to take control of management, requesting exclusive contracts with NewJeans, and embezzlement. On May 15th, a disagreement occurred between HYBE and ADOR regarding a meeting with an analyst.
HYBE had previously requested for Min Hee-jin to step down from her role as CEO. Since HYBE owns 80% of ADOR, it is highly probable that she will be dismissed if an extraordinary general meeting takes place. However, Min Hee-jin has filed an injunction to block HYBE from using their voting rights in an attempt to protect her position. The court’s ruling will ultimately determine whether she will be able to keep her job.
