Hydreigon weaknesses, resistances & strengths explained in Pokemon

When facing off against Hydreigon in Scarlet and Violet battles, it is important to be aware of its weaknesses, resistances, strengths, and best moves in order to defeat it easily. This ferocious Pokemon is known to strike fear into opponents, making it a formidable opponent.

Pseudo Legendaries are highly coveted in intense Pokemon battles due to their impressive power, as they have been known to defeat Legendaries with ease. The Dark/Dragon-type Hydreigon has proven to be a valuable ally in both Scarlet and Violet, making it a desirable choice for those looking to emerge victorious against their opponents.

To ensure your success as a Hydreigon trainer, we have provided you with information on its vulnerabilities, defenses, advantages, and the optimal moveset for conquering the toughest Pokemon battles.

Understanding Hydreigon’s Weaknesses in Pokemon

Hydreigon in Pokemon is susceptible to Bug, Dragon, Fairy, Fighting, and Ice-type attacks. Its Dark/Dragon-type composition makes it particularly vulnerable to Fairy-type moves, with a 4x weakness.

However, by Terastallizing Hydreigon into a Steel or Poison type, not only can its weakness to Fairy-types be eliminated, but it will also become resistant to them. Additionally, either of these Tera Types will prevent Hydreigon from being poisoned after being Terastallized.

Understanding Hydreigon resistances in Pokemon

In Pokemon, Hydreigon is resistant to Dark, Electric, Fire, Ghost, Grass, and Water-type attacks and cannot be affected by Psychic and Ground-type attacks.

The reason for its immunity to Ground-type moves is its ability, Levitate. This ability allows it to take no damage from moves such as Earthquake, Earth Power, and Stomping Tantrum. Some players have found a useful strategy by giving Hydreigon the Electric Tera Type, effectively removing all of its weaknesses. However, after using Hydreigon in numerous battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, I have found that the Steel or Poison Tera Type is more beneficial for this Pokemon.

Hydreigon’s Strengths in Pokemon

Hydreigon’s Dark and Dragon-type moves inflict super-effective damage on Pokemon of the Dragon, Ghost, and Psychic types.

This Pokemon boasts an impressive Special Attack stat of 125 and a Speed of 98, which allows it to easily defeat opponents with its powerful moves such as Draco Meteor and Dark Pulse. Its well-rounded stats make it a versatile and valuable addition to any team.

Top Hydreigon moves in Pokemon

The most effective moves for Hydreigon in Pokemon include Nasty Plot, Draco Meteor, Dark Pulse, and either Flash Cannon or Earth Power.

  • The move Nasty Plot can enhance Hydreigon’s already formidable Special Attack by two stages, transforming it into a formidable sweeper.
  • Draco Meteor is a potent Dragon-type move that can inflict significant damage on Steel-types, even those that are resistant to it. It is important to note that this move decreases Hydreigon’s Special Attack by two stages, so it is best used after using Nasty Plot or when preparing to switch out the Pseudo Legendary.
  • Dark Pulse is the preferred move of Hydreigon, boasting a solid 80 base power and a 20% chance to cause the target to flinch.
  • Flash Cannon is an effective counter to Fairy-types in Hydreigon’s arsenal, especially when boosted by +2 SpA from Nasty Plot, allowing it to easily OHKO them. If you prefer to have coverage against Steel types, Earth Power can be used instead. However, Flash Cannon is generally considered to be a more dependable option.

That’s everything you need to know about utilizing Hydreigon in battles within the world of Pokemon.
