Hyeri Opens Up About Struggle to Quit This and Giving Up on Dieting

During her appearance as a guest on SBS PowerFM’s “Park Ha Sun’s Cinetown” on September 3, Hyeri promoted her movie “Victory” and revealed that she had been following a low-carb diet for five months. She explained that she had gained weight during the filming of “Victory” and decided to make a change to her diet in order to maintain a healthier lifestyle.

Hyeri admitted, “It’s odd because I typically don’t consume a lot of bread, but after starting the low-carb diet, I found myself craving it constantly. I was able to resist eating rice, but I couldn’t control my snacking habits, so I ultimately gave in.”

She explained, “During filming, I aimed to portray a character who my friends could admire and trust, which is why I intentionally gained weight for the role. However, even after production wrapped, I continued to gain weight.”

Hyeri initially found the diet to be highly effective, but its difficulty eventually led her to give up and think, “I can’t continue with this.”

Hyeri has officially signed on for her upcoming project, “Friendly Rivalry”, a high-teen mystery thriller that delves into the dynamics of teenage girl relationships. The drama is based on the popular webtoon of the same name and will see Hyeri take on the role of Yoo Je Yi, a formidable presence at Chaehwa Girls’ High School.
