Hyolyn Discusses SISTAR Reunion Plans and Responds to KISS OF LIFE, Dubbed “The Next SISTAR”

Hyolyn reflected on her time with SISTAR, saying, “My favorite SISTAR song is ‘I Swear.’ I loved leading the song with my voice, and I liked how it was composed.” She added, “SISTAR received so much love, and although it’s been seven years since our disbandment, people still miss us. Back then, I didn’t fully recognize how much love we garnered. I didn’t have the chance to fully experience it, and that’s something I regret.”

Seven years after SISTAR’s disbandment, a “next-generation SISTAR” emerged with the debut of the group KISS OF LIFE in July last year. They caught attention this summer with their song “Sticky,” prompting comments like, “It feels like SISTAR is back.” Hyolyn expressed her admiration, stating, “I really like KISS OF LIFE. I’ve been following them since their debut. They’re performing exceptionally well, and they’re absolutely adorable. While their dance style and music differ from what was popular in my era, I still find their music relatable and enjoyable as an active singer.”

As a solo artist, Hyolyn has a significant aspiration: to release a full-length album. Since embarking on her solo journey, she has produced digital singles and mini-albums but hasn’t yet dropped a full album. Hyolyn said, “I don’t want to excel in just one area. If you’re going to do it, why not master everything? Simply knowing one thing can become monotonous and lead to stagnation. Even small improvements should always be pursued. In this industry, you must strive to be better today than you were yesterday, and better tomorrow than today.”

She further elaborated, “I want to release a full album. While there’s always a title track, every song is important for a singer. Unfortunately, only the title track generally receives attention, making the other songs seem like mere ‘fillers.’ Each track narrates a unique story and showcases musical diversity. However, this focus on the title track complicates the release of mini albums. I hope listeners will enjoy and appreciate all the songs, but it remains a concern and a regret.”

In November, Hyolyn will commence her “2024 U.S. Tour,” which kicks off in Los Angeles on November 1st, followed by performances in Dallas on November 2nd and Seattle on November 3rd. Excited about reconnecting with her global fans, she remarked, “I last toured in the U.S. at the end of SISTAR’s activities, so this marks my first U.S. tour in seven years. I need to showcase what I’ve been working on and the music I’ve been creating. I’m planning the setlist and the performances since I love singing and dancing, and I want to offer a diverse range of performances.”
