The fourth episode of I Parry Everything, titled “I Parried a Goblin,”was released on July 25, 2024. It centered around Noor and Lynne’s first guild commission, following Lynne’s recent apprenticeship to Noor. Despite the duo facing a formidable high-ranking monster, the episode did not fully test Noor’s abilities.
As Noor mistook the “Goblin Emperor”for a common goblin, he remained unaware of his true power. Additionally, Episode 4 further establishes the anime’s current structure of featuring a new villain each week, constantly pushing Noor to his limits.
This article includes spoilers for the I Parry Everything series.
Highlights from I Parry Everything episode 4
The fourth episode of I Parry Everything begins with Rein, the brother of Lynne, contemplating why the king would entrust a valuable treasure to someone unknown. It is later uncovered that this treasure is none other than the peculiar black blade that Noor acquired in episode 2.
During his adventuring days, Rein remembers how the king and six esteemed adventurers braved a labyrinth and eventually obtained the Black Blade after years of exploration. This sword’s exceptional durability, surpassing even that of Mithril, Orichalcum, and mana metal, led to it becoming a national treasure. This puzzles Rein, causing him to question why the king would so readily relinquish such a valuable weapon to Noor.
Rein concluded that the king had likely sensed a looming danger in the kingdom and took a risk by enlisting Noor’s help. The scene then shifts to Lynne and Noor as they wander through the marketplace before heading to the guild to collect their assignments. While Lynne had acknowledged Noor as her master, he was determined to prove to her that he was not worthy of such a title.
At the guild, to Noor’s astonishment, the Guildmaster presents their group with a goblin-hunting mission that takes place outside the city walls. This is due to Lynne’s impressive rank within the guild. As the lowest-ranked member, Noor had only ever imagined being given tasks that involved manual labor or fetching items. Without hesitation, he agrees to the quest, even though he had been contemplating getting rid of Lynne just moments earlier.
As they entered the forest, Noor and Lynne were met with a Goblin Emperor, the most powerful type of goblin. Noor initially mistook it for a regular goblin, and they were able to defend themselves. However, they soon realized that they would not be able to outlast the Goblin Emperor in a prolonged battle, as it was artificially created and had an exceptional ability to regenerate. Noor then utilized one of Lynne’s potent spells to propel himself towards the Goblin Emperor and successfully disable its core – a gemstone located on its forehead.
Upon their return to the guild, Rein receives the gemstone from the Goblin Emperor and discovers that this artificial monster was actually a tactic used by neighboring kingdoms. Noor and Lynne attest to the strength of the “regular goblin,”prompting the Guildmaster to inquire about this supposedly ordinary creature. Despite Lynne’s insistence that it was nothing more than a “regular goblin,”the Guildmaster remains curious.
The finale of I Parry Everything’s fourth episode sees Noor and Lynne confronted with a new obstacle: they had failed to bring any evidence of their hunt due to reducing the Goblin Emperor to ashes.
