As you embark on your inaugural night in Zoochosis, you’ll quickly observe that various animals are afflicted by different ailments. It’s your task to identify the correct treatments for them. If you’re struggling to determine which medication to create, refer to our detailed guide on symptom detection and treatment for all ailments within Zoochosis.
Identifying Animal Symptoms in Zoochosis
In addition to providing sustenance to the animals in their habitats, your primary responsibility in Zoochosis involves collecting samples and conducting readings to identify any health problems. Utilizing the equipment available on your Gadget Trolley, you can implement several strategies to ascertain which animals in each habitat require medical attention.
After equipping your Gadget Trolley with the necessary tools, proceed to the entrance of the animal enclosure. Follow these instructions to ensure you gather all the data needed for a proper diagnosis:
- Deposit food into the Feeding Area trough
- Collect the feces produced by each animal after consumption using the MFE vacuum
- Each animal that eats will leave behind one fecal pile.
- Measure temperature with the TIS device
- Position the tripod towards the animal and ensure it remains in view for the reading to register fully.
- Record sound data using the ASSA device
- Approach the animal cautiously to avoid startling it, remaining close until the reading completes.
- Obtain blood samples with the Blood Syringe
- Blood can be collected when an animal’s interaction square transitions from red to green.
- Track which animals you’ve sampled by checking the inventory through your PDA.
- Inspect for injuries using the UV flashlight
- Animals exhibiting visible wounds under UV light may be suffering from a parasitic infection and could be showing deceptive symptoms.
As you collect various samples and readings, monitor the status of each animal through the symbols displayed next to their names. A question mark indicates that further diagnostics are needed.
Upon completing all diagnostic steps, your PDA will notify you with “task complete”alerts, signaling it’s time to return to the train and identify the specific disease affecting the animals.
Treating All Diseases in Zoochosis
After returning to the train, submit the feces samples into the Biomaterial Receiver and then insert your blood vials into the Blood Collector located at the Veterinary Station. Proceed to interact with the computer at this same station to access the Diagnosis Screen.
On the left side of the screen, review the list of animals from the enclosure; you’ll identify which animals exhibit symptoms through the corresponding red symbols (such as temperature, sound, feces, and blood).
Next, utilize the symptom filter within the Diseases menu by selecting the observed symptoms in the animals. This will narrow down potential diseases to a manageable list, allowing you to choose the one that matches the symptoms precisely. Subsequently, you’ll need to concoct a medicinal treatment for the affected animals.
Once you’ve identified the correct treatment, confirm you’ll have enough of the required ingredients. These can typically be found in various colored vials scattered throughout the game environment. When prepared, click ‘Create’ at the bottom of the screen to produce your medicine. Remember, if multiple animals are infected, you’ll need to create additional doses.
Collect the darts filled with your crafted medicine from the nearby dispenser and load them into the Dart Gun attached to your Gadget Trolley. Return to the enclosure and administer one dart to each affected animal to cure them.
Once you’ve successfully treated all animals, you’ll receive a bright yellow notification (as shown above) celebrating your achievement in curing them. You can then advance to the next enclosure.
Treating Mutated Animals in Zoochosis
When encountering a mutated animal in the enclosure, you must concoct a specialized treatment tailored specifically for it to restore its original state. There are two distinct approaches to treating mutated animals in Zoochosis, each dependent on choices you make throughout gameplay (and the type of ending you desire).
Calm and Cure Using Meat
The first method for curing a mutated animal in Zoochosis involves creating the correct food recipe for the specific mutated species, which will always require Meat.
Be mindful that this entails using the Meat Block designated for Lily at the game’s outset or sacrificing Sarah or another human character to the grinder for more meat. This decision will influence your game’s ending.
Once you’ve prepared the meat recipe and placed it in the Bucket, grab your Blood Syringe and immediately head to the enclosure to dump the food into the Feeding Area trough. The mutated animal will approach and consume the meat, temporarily returning it to its normal state.
During this temporary state, collect a new blood sample from any animal (it doesn’t have to be the mutated one), which is essential for all mutation disease treatments. Hurry back to the train with your sample and access the computer to craft the necessary medicine.
After determining the appropriate treatment, click the ‘Create x3’ button at the bottom of the screen. This will automatically generate three doses of medicine, as you will need to administer it three times to fully treat the mutated animal.
Blood Collection Without Using Meat
If you wish to avoid using Meat (or incorporating human victims) in your gameplay, you’ll need to swiftly obtain an extra blood sample from the enclosure while the mutated animal is acting aggressively. Unfortunately, you cannot gather additional samples before the animal mutates, and Tranquilizers are ineffective against mutated creatures.
Thus, rush into the enclosure with your Blood Syringe and secure a sample from any animal as quickly as possible before returning to the train to concoct the required cure. Without a means to calm the mutated animal, it could potentially harm another animal in the enclosure before you can return.
Regardless, create the necessary treatment, return to the enclosure, and administer it three times to suppress the mutation and help the animal expel the parasite for collection.
