On May 17th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 50 conducted a public hearing for the “injunction to prohibit the exercise of voting rights”case filed by ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin against HYBE. During the intense exchanges, the term “shaman”was brought up, with HYBE alleging that CEO Min consulted with a particular shaman and used their advice to make management decisions, leading to her termination.
The shaman, known as “Jiyoungnim 0814”, was born in 1973. She is an acquaintance of CEO Min and runs a temple in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The shaman “Jiyoungnim 0814″and CEO Min’s text messages were obtained and reconstructed by TV Daily.
On March 24th, 2021, “Jiyoungnim 0814” informed CEO Min that it was possible for her to purchase a company in the next 3 years, similar to a corporate merger. This aligned with CEO Min’s conflict with HYBE, which became public in April of this year, coinciding with the mentioned timeframe.
The text messages, dating back to 3 years ago, align with CEO Min’s arrival at HYBE as CBO in April 2021. Based on the content of the messages, CEO Min expressed a desire to obtain something upon her arrival – her own label by April 2024.
CEO Min had faith in her ability to connect with her late younger sister using the medium of “Jiyoungnim 0814”. The shaman, acting as a channel for the spirit, conveyed that the spirit was interested in collaborating with CEO Min and even asked for a job. Although this applicant was offered a position, they ultimately decided to leave during the final round of interviews to join a different company.
Jiyoungnim 0814 was more involved in the management of ADOR than anticipated. She and CEO Min had frequent discussions about HYBE’s compensation, including put options. At the suggestion of a shaman, CEO Min was advised to demand a higher amount from HYBE than what was initially offered.
CEO Min frequently shared her true intentions with “Jiyoungnim 0814” , disclosing her plans to “acquire the company”and “create a new girl group”. The mentioned girl group in the text messages is believed to be NewJeans.
Despite CEO Min’s freedom to trust a shaman’s words, the company’s involvement in management conflicts changes the narrative due to the shaman’s personal opinions. This is especially significant since HYBE, home to K-pop icons, is the company in question.
Who holds majority ownership of ADOR? Is it HYBE with 80% of the shares or “Jiyoungnim 0814”, who appears to have a considerable influence on CEO Min?
