On May 22nd, Belift Lab, the label of ILLIT, announced that they have filed a complaint against CEO Min Hee-jin for causing harm to their company and artists through her false accusations. The complaint was made on charges of obstruction of business and defamation.
The agency stated that the accusation of plagiarism against our artist ILLIT, made by Min Hee-jin, is false. They also mentioned that they have provided evidence to the judicial authorities to support this. While it may take time, they are committed to using legal means to reveal the truth.
Belift Lab stressed the importance of fair and objective evaluation of plagiarism of IP (intellectual property), rather than relying on one-sided and distorted perspectives. The company expressed their disappointment in the situation where the hard work and accomplishments of their artists and employees are being undermined by baseless assumptions and untrue allegations.
Finally, the statement on the label clarified, “While this matter is unrelated to ILLIT, the members have been subjected to severe levels of hurtful comments, ridicule, and personal attacks”, and went on to say, “We urge everyone to refrain from making malicious attacks such as unfounded insults, malicious slander, spreading false information, and defaming the artist.”
At a recent emergency press conference, CEO Min Hee-jin responded to HYBE’s accusations of attempting to take over management rights and breach of trust by revealing that she had raised concerns about ILLIT copying NewJeans. However, instead of addressing this issue, HYBE conducted an audit on ADOR. Min Hee-jin clarified, “I am not making false accusations against ILLIT. This is a matter for adults to handle. They have copied our production formula excessively.”
Ever since, ILLIT members have been facing the consequences of hurtful remarks and being labeled as the “group that copied NewJeans”. During a live broadcast, member Wonhee was spotted taking action by reporting and blocking these malicious comments.
