The fandom of girl group ILLIT was announced to be named “LILLY”on April 22. The name, which was inspired by the flower “Lily”, holds significant meaning.
Nevertheless, this declaration quickly faced backlash from supporters of the girl group NMIXX and fans of BLACKPINK’s Lisa. Specifically, NMIXX fans expressed frustration over the similarity between the fandom name Lily and the name of one of their members.

However, Lisa fans argued that they have been using the term “Lilies”to identify themselves for a significant amount of time. Therefore, it would be inappropriate for another artist to adopt a similar name for their fanbase.
The controversy has been gaining significant traction on Korean forums, including “theqoo”, where a range of discussions on the matter have been generating swift interest. Here are a few comments from these forums:
- Do they not know that there’s a Lily in NMIXX? Why would they name their fandom LILLY?
- Is HYBE living in their own world? It is impossible for them not to know about NMIXX. Is this a marketing ploy?
- HYBE is really taking things too far
- Lisa has a lot of international fans, so using a similar fandom name to Lisa’s fans are just an odd move
- “Lilies” is just an unofficial name so they shouldn’t kick up a fuse about it…
- The company is just shit at their job…
