ILLIT has faced criticism since last month when ADOR’s CEO Min Hee-jin accused them of plagiarizing NewJeans. This was in reaction to HYBE’s audit, which raised concerns that Min may try to gain control of ADOR. As a result, ILLIT has been receiving negative public attention, including malicious comments, ridicule, and personal attacks online.
During a live broadcast of ILLIT, Wonhee caught the attention of media and fans when she appeared to be reporting hate comments. This caused concern among her fans as she is typically known for her cheerful demeanor, but during the broadcast, she seemed to be making gestures with a blank expression in a subdued atmosphere. Despite some speculations that the situation may have been staged due to her sitting on the side and receiving a phone during the broadcast, many fans were still heartbroken to see Wonhee in this situation.
Despite initial beliefs that the body shaming text messages leaked by CEO Min were directed towards a member of NewJeans, some netizens are now speculating that Wonhee was the actual target. This has sparked another round of hateful comments by online trolls.
In response to CEO Min’s accusations, Belift Lab, the agency of ILLIT, officially denied them. The agency reassured, “Our top priority is the health of our artists, and we will proceed with the schedule accordingly.”They also stated, “We will make every effort to improve Wonhee’s condition so that she can meet her fans in good health.”
