Despite the conclusion of its final arc and the defeat of All For One, My Hero Academia still has some unresolved plot points. The manga has entered its epilogue, leaving fans eager for more and hoping for a few more months of content. These hopes were heightened with the introduction of a mysterious new character in chapter 425 of the manga.

The enigmatic character, who was suspected to be Shigaraki, managed to survive, causing speculation among fans that the story would delve into this character in a mini-arc before coming to a close. However, the recent unexpected announcement that the series will conclude its serialization on August 5 has taken many fans by surprise.

Fan Reactions to the Announcement

Despite Deku achieving his ultimate goal and becoming the top hero, many fans have expressed their reluctance for the story to come to an end. The manga series, which began in 2014 and gained widespread popularity through its anime adaptation, continues to be a highly influential shonen story despite mixed reception.

In addition, a fan pointed out that many beloved and influential manga, such as My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and One Piece, are all approaching their endings. This could potentially pose a problem as these three series have consistently been the top favorites of Shonen Jump.

“MHA ending soon, JJK Ending soon and One piece being in it’s final stretch. Jump is gonna lose some pillars man,”one fan said.

Despite its flaws and drawbacks, one fan expressed their sadness that this series will be the final one featuring the cast. However, they acknowledged that it was a highly enjoyable and influential series that served as a gateway for many people to discover the world of anime.

“Even tho it sucks that this the last time we will see this cast, i will still admit that i love My hero academia, despite it’s flaws it still is a fun manga that i will forever miss,”another fan said.

One fan also expressed their opinion that the series should not end so soon and proposed an arc dedicated to Deku’s journey as the top hero. Despite All For One’s defeat, there are likely still numerous minor villains waiting to be confronted. It could be beneficial for the plot to showcase Izuku in his All Might era.

“Dawg mha deserved a time skip, deku deserved his all might era. Can’t believe it’s ending 😭,”one fan wrote.

“I thought he want to write more about their life in the academia?”another wrote.

One fan pointed out that the majority of the fandom had expected the epilogue to delve deeper into the lives of the main characters. However, a couple of other fans noted that this was achieved through the spin-offs of the series and speculated that Horikoshi may be looking to conclude the series in line with his own vision.

The epilogue of My Hero Academia chapter 426 will finally unveil the outcomes and final destinations of the main characters’ journeys. This highly anticipated chapter is set to be released on June 30, 2024 and can be read on Shueisha’s MANGAPlus platform.
