Apex Legends player Phillip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen strongly dislikes the current meta in the battle royale due to the excessive reliance on Bangalore as a crutch.
In recent months, Respawn’s modifications to Legend perks and abilities have disrupted Apex Legends’ meta. The selection rates of once essential characters such as Wraith, Horizon, and Bloodhound have decreased significantly, but it is still possible to achieve victory while utilizing them.
When it comes to the professional aspect of the game, competition is fierce and the ranks are close-knit. If you’re not utilizing the popular characters, such as Bangalore, it’s unlikely that you will rank high on the leaderboards.
Despite being a two-time ALGS MVP, ImperialHal strongly dislikes the current meta’s heavy reliance on Bangalore and hopes for a change in the near future.
“During the Esports World Cup, the star player of Falcons Esports expressed their dislike for playing against Bangalore due to the presence of smokes. They admitted that Bangalore makes the game difficult and unenjoyable for them.”
“In my opinion, the previous meta was stronger. I would prefer to have Bloodhound over our current options. One of my main reasons is my dislike for playing against Bangalore due to their smoke abilities and lack of aim assist. However, I do not mind playing as Fuse and other characters. Another issue I have, besides Bangalore, is that there seems to be one dominant character while the others have been nerfed and are not as effective. This is also a problem in my eyes.”

The ex-TSM player also reiterated his call for Respawn to focus on buffing Legends rather than implementing nerfs, a sentiment he has expressed previously.
“According to him, while it is possible to weaken the dominating meta legends, he suggests boosting other characters to be on par with them. He also mentions that currently, Fuse and Bang are the only viable options, while the third choice is not as important.”
With the upcoming Season 22, it has been confirmed that Crypto will receive a major buff that may elevate him to a prominent position in the meta.
