At present, Helldivers 2 is facing a significant problem in which primary weapons are rendered ineffective and require a boost in order to remain useful.
Helldivers 2 offers a wide range of weapons and Stratagems, showcasing its diversity. However, a significant disparity exists between the effectiveness of these weapons, with some being highly usable while others are deemed subpar.
Unfortunately, primary weapons are currently facing challenges in Helldivers 2. These weapons possess a low damage output and limited ammunition capacity, resulting in the need to frequently reload even when facing only one enemy.
When playing at lower difficulty settings, primary weapons may seem functional. However, as the difficulty level increases, primaries begin to feel inadequate and should be avoided. One major concern with certain primary weapons is their lack of armor penetration, resulting in even lower damage output.
For example, a weapon with moderate armor penetration would result in a 40% decrease in damage. This imbalance has rendered primary weapons ineffective and unsuitable for combat. While weapons like the Liberator, Penetrator, Jar-5, and Eruptor are enjoyable to wield, their effectiveness in challenging situations could have been improved.
Due to the poor performance of primary weapons, the entire meta is centered around Stratagem cooldowns, which poses a major issue. To gain an advantage, players rely on their Stratagems, retreat, and then maneuver until their Orbital Laser is ready to use again.
This matter is widespread, causing numerous players in the community to voice their discontent on Reddit. Many players express frustration with the current state of certain weapons, deeming them “almost impossible to use.”
Despite being a PvE game, Helldivers 2 does not have a definitive meta. While certain weapons may be more powerful than others, the focus of the game currently lies heavily on Stratagems. This aspect of the game is in need of change.
