In Norse mythology, Imu refers to Jotunn, entities often contrasted with gods and other non-human figures like dwarves and elves. The Jotunn typically exist in realms separate from gods and humans.
In Germanic lore, Jotunn signifies supernatural beings. Imu wears a crown featuring four exceptionally tall spikes and dons an elongated robe that flows to the ground.
Though Imu has a humanoid shape, the unusually low position of their hands raises questions about their exact height. Given the unusual proportions of Imu’s silhouette, it’s highly probable that they are not an ordinary human.

Imu is Likely an Immortal and One of the Rulers from 800 Years Ago
In One Piece chapter 1086, Ivankov theorizes that Imu’s full name might be Saint Imu of House Nerona, a ruler from one of the twenty allied nations. Ivankov refers to a book mentioning an ability that could grant eternal youth, likely linked to the Op-Op Fruit, which has such capabilities.
Ivankov speculates that someone in history must have harnessed this devil fruit’s power. Notably, Nefertari Cobra indicates that one of the twenty rulers shares a name with Imu. Considering the Gorosei’s reference to Imu as the “world’s creator,” it’s clear that Imu played a significant role in the establishment of the World Government.
Imu Has the Power to Control the Lives of the Gorosei
The Gorosei possess instant regeneration and appear to be ageless. In flashbacks of Ohara (20 years ago) and God Valley (38 years ago), they look unchanged. Their transformations are ominous, and their summoning abilities remain a mystery.
Despite Saturn’s fear of Luffy’s unprecedented powers, Luffy couldn’t inflict lasting harm on him. Conversely, Imu was able to kill Saturn from a distance. While Imu resided in Mariejois, Saturn was near Egghead on a ship with Vice Admirals.
Remarkably, Imu managed to communicate with him telepathically and drain Saturn’s life force, leaving behind only bones after the encounter. This display of power suggests that Imu surpasses any other character in the series.
