On Sunday, September 1, 2024, a website was launched to announce the upcoming anime film project, Inazuma Eleven the Movie 2025. The highly anticipated film is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on Friday, December 27, 2024. Consisting of two films, the project includes Eiga Inazuma Eleven Soshuhen: Densetsu no Kickoff (Inazuma Eleven Compilation Film: Legendary Kickoff) and Gekijoban Inazuma Eleven: Aratanaru Eiyu-tachi no Josho (Inazuma Eleven the Movie: The New Heroes’ Prologue).
The 2025 anime film Inazuma Eleven the Movie is the most recent addition to the expanding media franchise centered around the popular football-themed franchise, Inazuma Eleven. Developed and published by Japanese company Level-5, the franchise was first introduced in 2008 with the release of the original Inazuma Eleven game. MAPPA Studios, in collaboration with OLM, is responsible for producing the footage for both the anime prologue film and the game’s animated scenes. Akihiro Hino has returned to fulfill his role as chief director and scriptwriter for the project at MAPPA and OLM. The original character designs are credited to Takuzo Nagano, and Aeon Entertainment will be distributing the Inazuma Eleven the Movie 2025 film.
The central plot of the Victory Road game centers around Unmei Sasanami, a boy who dreams of a world without the game of football/soccer. Along his journey, he crosses paths with Haru Endo, a skilled soccer player. According to reports, the game will include a vast cast of over 4,500 characters from the series.
The upcoming prologue film will feature the same cast members from the game. The game is set to release globally in 2024 on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, as well as iOS, Android, and PC via Steam.
Moreover, not only does the franchise consist of mainline video games, but it also includes a manga series and various animated television shows and movies. Similarly, the franchise is predominantly popular in Eastern countries, as most of the games are not available in North America despite being released in PAL territories.
