On April 16, 2024, during the most recent episode of SBS’s “Dolsing Fourment,”INFINITE leader Sunggyu displayed his candid demeanor.
The most recent installment centered around the idea of “having what the Dolsing Fourmen lack.”Kim Sunggyu was presented as a person who possesses “youth that Tak Jae Hoon desires but cannot attain.”In response, Kim Sunggyu expressed his joy, stating, “Even though I may appear young, I am actually 36 years old.”
Sunggyu shyly chuckled in response to Lee Sang Min’s statement, “Sunggyu only has love for his mother, sister, and fans.”The INFINITE member went on to express that he believes it would be disrespectful and lacking in manners towards his fans if he were to enter into a romantic relationship, especially as an idol.
Reactions from Korean Netizens on INFINITE Sunggyu’s Views on Idols Dating
Shortly after the episode was broadcasted, a well-known South Korean online community forum called Instiz shared a post titled “Kim Sunggyu’s ‘Idols dating is disrespectful to fans…’ statement of conviction”. The post quickly gained attention from Korean netizens.
Despite the controversy surrounding his co-member’s relationship rumors during INFINITE’s promotions, Sunggyu still received praise from many fans who admire him for being a true professional idol. Fans also noted that his wise words may come from personal experience, adding to their love for him. However, the scandal did have an impact on the group’s reputation.
Some individuals interpreted Sunggyu’s statement as implying that idols are allowed to date, but they choose to keep their relationships discreet from fans. Many also expressed their desire for Sunggyu to date, but not to publicize his future relationship.
