Information on Daredevil: Born Again TV Show

Daredevil: Born Again is set to bring back Charlie Cox’s portrayal of the Man Without Fear in the MCU. From release updates to casting announcements and plot details, we have all the information you need.

Charlie Cox’s initial portrayal of Daredevil was in the 2015 Netflix series of the same title. He continued to play the character in two additional seasons and in the crossover series The Defenders, until the entire universe was discontinued.

After facing persistent requests from fans, Marvel Studios eventually cast Cox as Matt Murdock in the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home. This has opened up a promising future for the actor, as he is set to appear in multiple upcoming Marvel projects on both the big and small screen.

He has previously starred in both She-Hulk and the Echo series. Cox is set to reprise his role as the notorious Hell’s Kitchen vigilante in his own standalone Disney+ show in the near future, and here’s everything we currently know about Daredevil: Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again Release Date

The release date for Daredevil: Born Again has not been announced yet, but Disney has verified that the show will debut in March 2025.

During San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel’s Kevin Feige announced that Daredevil: Born Again would be released on Disney+ in Spring 2024. However, due to significant rewrites and behind-the-scenes obstacles, the show’s original plan was scrapped in favor of a “creative reboot.”

Despite this, during an interview with Collider in January 2024, actor Vincent D’Onofrio reassured fans that the show was back on track. He expressed his excitement for the project, stating that they were making progress and hoping to begin filming soon with a positive atmosphere between himself and co-star Charlie Cox.

D’Onofrio praised the new showrunner, Dario Scardapane, and expressed his confidence in the direction of the show. “The powers that be within the MCU share our belief that we are in a great position at the moment,” he stated. “With Dario, who has proven his talent as a writer with The Punisher, we are all very content with where we are.”

Examining the schedule for 2025, we can anticipate the release of Captain America 4 in February, Thunderbolts in May, and Fantastic Four in July. Luckily, Daredevil will perfectly bridge the gap between February and May.

Is there a trailer?

As of now, there is still no trailer released by Marvel Studios and Disney+ for Daredevil Born Again.

As filming is still in progress, we recommend not anticipating a trailer in the near future. We will promptly share the Daredevil: Born Again trailer here once it becomes available.

During a convention appearance in 2024, Cox revealed the reasoning behind Woll and Henson’s last-minute inclusion in the cast. As reported by Popverse, he elaborated on the alterations and their effects on the overall tone of the show.

Cox expressed his disappointment when [Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson] were initially absent. However, upon returning to filming and witnessing the changes that had been made, it became evident that Foggy and Karen were the true heart and soul of our show, as they always were.

Recent set photos have seemingly confirmed the appearance of supervillain Muse and superhero White Tiger in Daredevil: Born Again, but the actors portraying these characters have yet to be revealed.

There is speculation that Tatiana Maslany will make an appearance as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, in addition to the already confirmed cast members. In a December 2022 interview with Metro, Charlie Cox expressed his support for Maslany’s potential involvement, indicating that he is in favor of the idea.

“I have expressed my admiration for Tatiana numerous times, and the enjoyable experience we had working together on She-Hulk remains one of my fondest memories portraying that character,”he stated. “Her portrayal of Jennifer Walters was exceptional and I would strongly advocate for her to make an appearance on our show if she is able and interested. It would be a dream come true. However, I am uncertain of her availability and willingness to do so.”

Dario Scardapane serves as showrunner for the series, while Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who previously collaborated on Moon Knight, are the lead directors.

If you’re a music enthusiast, you’ll be thrilled to learn that the Newton Brothers have been brought on to compose the score for Born Again. The pair previously collaborated on X-Men ’97.

Synopsis of Daredevil: Born Again

Although an official plot synopsis for Daredevil: Born Again has not been released by Marvel, given the return of characters from the Netflix show, it is expected that this series will connect the events of that timeline to the MCU.

It is not guaranteed, but there is a possibility that the show will draw inspiration from the influential 80s comic book arc with the same title. In this saga, the Kingpin discovers Daredevil’s true identity and manipulates this knowledge to ruin Matt Murdock’s personal life.

Additionally, the conclusion of Echo in the Echo finale hints towards the possibility of Daredevil: Born Again taking on another storyline from the comics: Kingpin’s campaign for mayor of New York City. This aligns with speculation that Fisk will use an anti-vigilante stance to specifically target Daredevil and other costumed heroes.

There is another ongoing speculation surrounding the superhero TV show’s extended lineup of supervillains. Scooper Daniel Richtman has reported that while Kingpin will still be a part of the show, he will not be the main antagonist. Instead, the focus will be on Muse. This is further supported by recent set photos and reports of the superhero White Tiger’s involvement in the plot.

Despite the unknown direction of the story and antagonists in Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again, one thing remains certain: it will serve as a foundation for Season 2. In an interview with Newsweek, D’Onofrio expressed his plans for a grand, two-season storyline.

“In the second season, there are major payoffs, just like in the first season which I can’t reveal much about. The fans will definitely be satisfied and get what they have been longing for.”

In an interview with TV Insider, Cox and D’Onofrio stated that there is a significant amount of overlap between the original TV show and the new series. Initially, there were no plans for this to occur, but the creative changes resulted in the original cast returning.

“Striking the right balance is crucial. When remaking a show and labeling it as Season 1, it is important to maintain the aspects that made it successful and beloved. However, there should also be a purpose for remaking it, which is why some changes are necessary. It can be a delicate balancing act,”Cox explained.

“In my opinion, they have done an exceptional job with it. I hope that the original fans, also known as the O.G.s, will appreciate it as well. Perhaps we will also gain some new fans along the way.”
