Insider Details How GTA 6 Will Affect Next-Gen Edition of RDR2

According to an industry insider, Rockstar Games may revisit Red Dead Redemption 2 after the release of GTA 6 and incorporate certain elements from the latter into the former.

Despite being a beloved game, many players were surprised that Rockstar did not release an upgraded port of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.

Currently, Rockstar is solely focused on developing GTA 6 and has allocated all of its resources towards its production. The highly anticipated game is scheduled for a fall 2025 launch, as of the present.

Tez2, who has accurately leaked information about Rockstar projects in the past, has stated that the company has not overlooked RDR2 and is expected to develop a next-generation version after the release of GTA VI.

Tez contributed to a discussion about RDR2’s next-gen release on GTA Forums, stating that while it was in progress, development was stopped, similar to the pause in updates for RDO.

Additionally, he mentioned that Grand Theft Auto 6 will incorporate all the enhancements originally planned for RDR2 on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. He also added that certain aspects of these updates may eventually be implemented in their initial intended destination.

“According to the user on the GTA Forums, Rockstar has the potential to implement some of these upgrades in RDR2 for current-gen consoles following the release of VI. An example of this is the Rockstar Editor.”

Recalling a previous article by Jason Schreier about the potential growth of GTA 6, the source revealed that Rockstar had scrapped plans for expansions in both GTA V and RDR2. The insider also noted that the original plans for RDR2 included a Mexico expansion.

According to his explanation, they had considered including Mexico for a story expansion, but ultimately decided to move on to VI without pursuing the idea.

In the event that a revised and improved edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 is released, Rockstar might consider reevaluating their plans for a Mexico map expansion.

Currently, it is advised to approach this information with caution. Rockstar is heavily focused on the development of GTA 6 and has even called employees back to the office to avoid any potential leaks and to ensure added refinement.
