Pokemon fans can take on many roles, such as casual players, perfect IV breeders, shiny hunters, speedrunners and more. There is no limit to the level of specialization a Pokemon player can achieve.
When attempting to catch Pokemon, the usual method involves reducing their health, possibly using a status effect, and then attempting to catch them by throwing balls, in the hopes of success.
Throughout our years of catching ’em all, we have encountered countless Poke Balls in the games, each with its own distinct catching requirements and advantages.
Despite this, Pokemon players hold a multitude of varying opinions on the specific ways and reasons behind their usage of different Poke Balls. These may range from choosing based on color coordination, utilizing the benefits of a particular Poke Ball during battle, or simply using whatever is leftover in their backpack after attempting to catch legendaries.
Some players prioritize certain Pokemon, opting to use whatever Poke Ball is most convenient for Pokedex fodder. However, for their favorite Pokemon or ones they plan to use in battles, they tend to choose a Poke Ball that fits the theme or one that is Premier/Luxury. The extra free balls that come with buying 10 or more Poke Balls, known as Premiere Balls, present an opportunity for players to showcase their wealth earned from battles.
Some people take pleasure in having the ability to boast about catching a rare Pokemon using a standard Poke Ball. “I used to make a deliberate effort to capture all of my legendary Pokemon with regular Poke Balls because I believed it demonstrated a certain level of skill rather than just being a complete waste of time.”
When it comes to legendary Pokémon, there is currently a community challenge to catch the ultimate prize in color coordination: a shiny Rayquaza in a luxury ball. According to the challenge, you can’t truly consider yourself the best unless you have achieved this feat. The ball and Pokémon share a color scheme, with both featuring a black and yellow design.
There are those who prefer to use only one type of Poke Ball for all their Pokemon. One trainer stated, “I exclusively use the regular Poke Ball for all my Pokemon, and I even took the time to replace all of the non-standard balls in my Living Dex.”Although this may be a time-consuming task, it is justified since all Poke Balls have the capability to catch any Pokemon eventually.
Many individuals, however, expressed their preference for a more practical strategy, taking into account the number of Gym badges earned when choosing which Poke Balls to purchase. Some suggested using Pokeballs in the beginning stages, great balls in the middle, ultra balls towards the end, and saving the master ball for legendary Pokemon. Others mentioned occasionally using special balls, such as dive balls, if they feel like it.
Maybe in the future, when embarking on your Pokemon journey, consider your selection of Poke Ball more carefully in your quest to catch them all.
