The anime adaptation of I’m the Heroic Knight of an Intergalactic Empire is set to launch in April 2025. This announcement was made during the 5th Overlap Bunko All-Star Roundup Special live stream on Sunday, October 20, 2024, where a promotional video and teaser visual were presented. Additionally, the primary cast members and crew behind the project have been revealed.

I’m the Heroic Knight of an Intergalactic Empire is inspired by the light novel series authored by Yomu Mishima and illustrated by Nadare Takamine. Mishima initially published the narrative on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website before Overlap secured the rights and released the first volume in July 2020. This fantasy light novel also has a manga adaptation featuring illustrations by Juu Ishiguchi.

On October 20, 2024, during the 5th Overlap Bunko All-Star Roundup event, the official team shared exciting news about the production of the I’m the Heroic Knight of an Intergalactic Empire anime, including a promotional video and teaser visual.

The anime is scheduled to air in the “ANiMAZiNG!!!”time slot on 24 ABC TV and TV Asahi affiliated channels within Japan, commencing in April 2025. A specific premiere date has yet to be disclosed.

The official trailer showcases Liam, the central character, as he battles adversaries in an intergalactic conflict. This brief clip emphasizes the high-quality animation typical of mecha anime and offers fans a preview of the storyline, including hints at Liam’s tragic past. The trailer also introduces Amagi, the AI maid robot, and the Guide.

In conjunction with the promotional video, a teaser visual for the I’m the Heroic Knight of an Intergalactic Empire anime has been made public, featuring an illustration of Liam alongside his mobile knight and Amagi, the AI maid.

Character Voices, Production Team, and Plot Details

The anime’s principal cast has been announced, with Natsuki Hanae lending his voice to the protagonist, Liam Serra Banfield, and Reina Ueda voicing Amagi. Additionally, the renowned Takehito Koyasu voices the Guide. The newly launched official website and X account have featured remarks from the voice actors, expressing their enthusiasm for their roles.

The anime is directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa at Quad Studios. Kazuya Morimae is the lead animation director, and the character designers are collaborating with Ayako Karatani, Keita Hagio, and Masahiko Suzuki.

The mechanical designs are crafted by Masahiro Yamane, Yasuhiro Moriki, Tsukasa Kotobuki, and Kazuma Akagi. Music for the series is composed by Yusuke Seo and Shun Narita, with Ryosuke Naya as the sound director.

Diving into Yomu Mishima’s narrative, I’m the Heroic Knight of an Intergalactic Empire revolves around Liam, a man who led an honorable life in his previous existence. Betrayed by his wife, he ultimately meets his demise in a landscape of debt.

Despite this, he is reborn into a royal lineage within a vast intergalactic empire. Reflecting on the shortcomings of his former life, where his kindness led to his ruin, Liam aspires to become a tyrant. Ironically, his authoritarian choices result in unexpected peace and prosperity, garnering him increasing popularity.
