Earlier on May 13, amidst the strained relationship between HYBE and ADOR, a parent of a NewJeans member granted an interview to the media.
During the interview, A, the parent, shared that the NewJeans members felt ignored and uncomfortable when they would greet HYBE CEO Bang Si-hyuk at the company. They mentioned that every time they crossed paths, Bang Si-hyuk would pretend to not know them, causing the members to feel deliberately avoided, particularly in the elevator.
Chosun.com reached out to a HYBE representative for a response to these claims, and was told, “We do not have an official comment at this time.”
Moreover, when questioned about the validity of reports that Chairman Bang did not reciprocate the NewJeans members’ greetings, the representative replied, “It is challenging to provide an answer.”
Despite the official statement from HYBE revealing that Bang Si-hyuk has facial recognition disorder (facial blindness), it almost seemed like an excuse for him ignoring NewJeans.
Netizens were left perplexed by such a response, which could easily be answered with a simple yes or no. As a result, they have left rather scathing comments.
The following are comments from internet users:
- It appears that he truly ignored their greetings. What could be the reason for him to behave that way towards children?
- I’m so disappointed in Bang Si-hyuk and his ugly actions
- Does facial recognition disorder occur selectively? He was surely greeting LE SSERAFIM normally
- They couldn’t even lie about this so it’s officially true
- Suppose he does have facial recognition disorder, but is it not still possible to acknowledge someone’s greeting even if you are unable to recognize them?
