Introducing OORT BOYS: The Beloved Webtoon Characters Set to Make Their Debut as Virtual K-pop Idols

Great news for fans of both Manhwa and K-pop! In the latter half of 2024, followers of these beloved Webtoon characters will be delighted to see them come to life as virtual K-pop idols in 3D!

On July 11, Oort Entertainment announced that the debut of the world’s first virtual idol group to use Webtoon IP is set for the second half of 2024.

Similar to the usual idol trainee system, Oort Boys’ creation involved a rigorous fan verification process before their debut, much like the actual formation and preparation of a K-pop idol group.

Last year marked the beginning of their pre-debut activities, during which they introduced five original members, including Seo Tale, Do Minseong, Nithan, Frederic, and former member Ma Daehyeop.

The virtual idols utilize YouTube to carry out weekly live streams from February to April 2024 as a component of their monthly assessment project.

At this event, the AI technology will enable real humans to represent the members and showcase vocal and dance performances. This will allow fans to play an active role in shaping Oort Boys’ future activities.

Despite Seo Tale’s exclusion, the members of the boy group are all existing Webtoon characters who have used their real manhwa names and faces. Each of the four members has their own distinct story and personality, making them popular among fans who have a love for both manhwas and K-pop.

Here are the members of Oort Boys:

Ma Daehyeop

Ma, the first member of Oort Boys, is the second male lead in the Webtoon “Lethal Romance.”He is characterized by his gray hair and orange eyes.

Before their official debut, Oort Entertainment made the announcement that Daehyeop would not be debuting with the other members due to his health problems.

As a result, the original OT5 group, Oort Boys, was reduced to a quartet.

Do Minseong

Minseong, who hails from the Webtoon “July Blue,”is the second member of the Oort Boys. His unique design feature includes a teardrop mole and dark eyes.

SEO Tale

According to reports from media outlets, Seo Tale is an original character and the third member to be revealed.

The main character of “I Stan the Prince,”Prince Rayburn, is often recognized by his distinct design element, which includes dimple red eyes and black hair. In fact, he was initially mistaken for having the same appearance as the main character, Prince Rayburn.

Nithan

Nithan, the fourth member to be introduced, plays the role of the supportive male lead in the Webtoon “Captain! Is this battlefield here?”

The defining feature of his appearance is his lengthy red hair and orange eyes.

Frederic

Finally, as the fifth member, Frederic joined Oort Boys. He was previously known for his appearance in the manhwa “I Stan the Prince,”where he was beloved for his royal looks, including his long, curly, gray hair and long eyelashes.

The story he posted on Kakao received 16.4 million views, demonstrating his popularity.
