Introducing Overwatch 2’s New Clash Mode: Explained

The Overwatch 2 Season 12 trailer revealed that Clash will now be a permanent game mode. This is a brand new core mode that blends elements of 2CP and Control.

Season 10 saw the initial debut of Clash as an LTM, serving as a trial run to gauge player feedback. The reception was largely positive, leading to its permanent inclusion in the game. To ensure a smooth experience, it is recommended to familiarize oneself with the mechanics before joining matches.

Overwatch 2 Clash Mode Explained

A recently introduced game mode in Overwatch 2, Clash requires players to seize control of designated areas from their opponents in order to emerge victorious.

The mode is known to be significantly more fast-paced than other game modes currently available. This is due to the frequent changes in spawn locations and the streamlined map routes when capturing points, unlike the Hybrid mode.

How to play Clash

Clash is a player-versus-player game mode featuring five capture points (A-E) arranged in a straight line on a mirrored map. At any given time, only one of these capture points is active, and the match always begins with the central capture point (C) on the map.

The two teams must engage in a battle for control of the capture point in order to advance to the next one, gradually pushing into the opposing team’s territory. A point can be captured by standing on it without any interference. The team that reaches the end (A/E) first or captures the most points will emerge victorious in the match.

Clash Maps

The initial two maps released for Clash are Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis, both of which draw inspiration from classic Overwatch maps: Hanamura and Temple of Anubis, respectively.

During Blizzcon, it was hinted that Volskaya could potentially be a future location for Clash maps. If any new maps are announced in upcoming seasons, we will update this article accordingly.

There are plenty of exciting things to anticipate in Season 12, such as the release of a fresh Battle Pass and a potential collaboration with World of Warcraft. Additionally, a few Heroes will undergo adjustments in terms of buffs and nerfs, so it’s important to be familiar with the most effective ways to counter Tank Heroes before entering competitive matches.
