Despite the fact that the release of the iPhone 16 is still several months away, there are already leaks emerging about the features of the upcoming iPhone 17. A supply chain expert recently posted that the iPhone 17 Plus may undergo a significant display modification.
According to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) and an expert in displays, the iPhone 17 Plus may have a smaller display than the iPhone 16 Plus. In a subscriber-only post on X, Young stated that the Plus model will fall between the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max in terms of size.
Young did not disclose the precise dimensions of the iPhone 17 Plus display, but confirmed that it will be smaller than the 6.7-inch screen on the iPhone 15 Plus. The 6.7-inch size has been consistent for the “Plus”series since its debut with the iPhone 14. According to leaks and rumors, the iPhone 16 Plus is also expected to have the same screen size.

The reason for Apple’s potential decision to alter the display size of the iPhone 17 Plus is unclear. One possibility is to create a larger differentiation between the Plus and Pro Max models, both of which currently have a 6.7-inch display. It is possible that Apple wants to reserve the largest displays for their top-of-the-line, more expensive iPhone models.
Based on the report, it is possible that Apple is increasing the differences between its various iPhone models. For instance, according to a recent report, the company may reduce the battery size of the iPhone 16 Plus while increasing the battery size of the Pro Max. This development comes after independent reviewers conducted battery life tests and found that the iPhone 15 Plus outperformed the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
There have been speculations about potential size alterations for the iPhone 16 Pro models as well. According to reports, the Pro Max is expected to have a 6.9-inch display (an increase from 6.7 inches), while the Pro will have a 6.3-inch display (up from 6.1 inches). However, it remains to be seen if these reports hold true, as Apple has not yet made any official announcements regarding the iPhone 16 and 17 series.
